Congratulations to Peller and Jarvis on officially solemnising their marriage under the Marriage Act.

From this moment:

1. Their marriage is legally recognised and protected by law.

2. Peller cannot legally marry another woman unless the marriage is dissolved by a competent court.

3. Having side relationships is inconsistent with the obligations of the marriage.

4. Even if Peller discovers Jarvis being unfaithful, he cannot legally evict her from their matrimonial home without following due legal process.

5. Both spouses have equal legal rights within the marriage.

6. Jarvis is equally expected to remain faithful and committed to the marriage.

7. Property acquired during the marriage may be subject to shared legal interests. If the marriage ends, the court can consider each person's financial and other recognised contributions when deciding how assets are divided.

8. The marriage takes precedence over any customary or traditional practice that conflicts with the law.

9. Marriage does not take away either spouse's fundamental human rights.

10. Returning the bride price does not end a statutory marriage. It can only be dissolved by a court or brought to an end by the death of a spouse.
