Thissss. I have gotten lots of complaints from women about having really itchy scalp so I did a little research and discovered some reasons why our scalp might itch.

Note that an itch from time to time is normal because our scalp is skin and skin itches💁🏽‍♀️. But when the itching become persistent, it could be due to one of the following:

☘️ Product build up: this could be from using heavy butters and oils for a long period without properly detoxifying your scalp from time to time. These products could leave residues that could clog your pores and cause inflammations. And when you sweat, uhgg, that’s the end. A lil dog with rabies got nothing on you.
☘️ Dry scalp: Having extremely dry scalp, on the other hand can also cause your skin to itch. This might be due to using a shampoo that strips off all sebum or oils from your hair and scalp.
☘️ Infections: Infections such as eczema, dandruff, ringworm, or head lice could result in serious itching that wouldn’t go away even after washing.
☘️ Dirty hair: I’m completely against the trend that dirty hair grows faster. It’s both unhygienic and unhealthy. Aside the risk of having infections, your scalp would itch due to the build up of dirt and sweat.
☘️ Dirty pillows and bonnets: Wash them as often as possible because they could breed bacteria that could irritate your scalp
☘️Too tight hair or use of high heat: Extreme tensions on the hair strands could pull at the hair follicle causing damage and inflammations. This could result mildly in itching and majorly in alopecia. High heat should not be applied directly or too close to the scalp.
☘️ Harsh shampoos: Some shampoos are heavy in sulphur and fragrances and these can cause irritation to your scalp as well. It’s best to use mild shampoos preferably ones without sulphate.
