Step-by-Step: Removing the Bean Skins
Soak the Beans
Rinse your beans well.
Place them in a large bowl and cover with warm water.
Soak for 8–12 hours (or overnight).
The beans will swell and the skins will start to loosen.
Rub to Loosen the Skins
After soaking, drain the water and add fresh warm water.
Use your hands to rub the beans together.
The friction will help the skins slip off.
You’ll see the skins floating on top of the water.
Separate the Skins
Pour off the water gently — the skins will float away.
Refill with clean water and repeat rubbing + pouring until most skins are gone.
It may take 3–4 rounds.
Final Rinse
Once most skins are removed, give the beans a final rinse.
Drain and they’re ready to cook for Oshingari!
