Malaysia has one of the highest rates of type 2 diabetes in Asia. Most dietary conversations focus on what to cut; sugar, rice, white bread. This one is about what to add.

Protein has a measurable effect on blood sugar response that most people with diabetes are never told about. When protein is consumed before or alongside carbohydrates, it slows gastric emptying; meaning glucose from the carbohydrates enters the bloodstream more gradually. The post-meal spike is lower. The subsequent drop is less severe. This is called the protein-first or second-meal effect, and it's been documented in multiple clinical studies.

For someone eating nasi lemak, rice, or roti canai daily; which is most Malaysians; adding 20g of protein before the meal changes the glycaemic response of everything eaten after it. One scoop of Original Protein dissolved in morning kopi, before breakfast, triggers this effect before the day's first carbohydrate load arrives.

The protein source also matters for people managing diabetes. Diets high in saturated fat worsen insulin resistance over time. Animal protein sources carry saturated fat alongside the protein. Plant protein from pea, soy and brown rice carries none; making it a lower-risk protein source for anyone managing both blood sugar and cardiovascular health simultaneously.

Important: this is nutritional information, not medical advice. Protein intake is one dietary lever among many. If you are managing diabetes, discuss changes with your doctor.

Save this; and share it with anyone in your family who is managing blood sugar. This is the conversation that usually doesn't happen at the clinic. 🌱

Protein powder has a branding problem. It got associated with the gym. And that association is keeping a lot of ordinary Malaysians from getting something their bodies genuinely need.

Protein is a macronutrient like carbohydrates, like fat. Your body requires it every single day regardless of whether you exercise. It builds and repairs every cell in your body. It produces the hormones and neurotransmitters that regulate your mood, focus, and sleep quality. It maintains your immune system. It sustains your hair, skin, and muscle mass. The gym found it useful. That doesn't make it a gym product.

The people who most need protein supplementation are not the 25-year-olds at the gym β€” their bodies are still efficient at extracting protein from food. The people who need it most are the ones whose bodies have become less efficient: adults over 40 whose protein synthesis has slowed, elderly parents with shrinking appetites, people recovering from illness, women experiencing hair thinning, anyone trying to manage cholesterol by shifting away from animal protein sources.

The gym is the least interesting use case.

Original Protein is deliberately unflavoured and odourless because it was designed to fit into a life, not to signal a lifestyle. One scoop dissolves into morning kopi without changing the taste. No shake bottle. No protein bar. No performance culture required.

The most common thing people say when they start is not "I got stronger." It's "I don't know why, but I feel steadier." That's what adequate protein feels like when you've been running below your needs for years.

Save this and share it with whoever has decided protein powder is not for them. 🌱

One of the most common causes of hair loss in women over 30 is also one of the most frequently missed; and it's worth checking before anything else.

It's called telogen effluvium. Unlike genetic or pattern hair loss, this one is diffuse; gradual thinning across the whole scalp, more hair in the drain and on the pillow, over weeks and months. It's triggered by the hair follicle entering a resting phase prematurely. The most common triggers: nutritional deficiency, illness, hormonal shifts, and chronic stress.

The nutritional connection comes down to this: hair is approximately 95% keratin, which is a structural protein your body synthesises from amino acids. When dietary protein is consistently low, your body prioritises critical functions; organ maintenance, immune response, muscle repair; and hair follicles get what remains. In a significant protein deficit, that's often not enough to sustain normal growth.

The updated protein recommendation is 1.2–1.6g per kilogram of body weight daily. For a 55kg woman, that's 66–88g. A typical day of Malaysian eating often lands at 35–45g. That 20–50g daily gap, sustained over months, is enough to affect the hair growth cycle.

Protein deficiency is one cause of hair loss. Not the only one; hormonal and genetic factors require different approaches. But if your diet is protein-light and your hair has been thinning, closing the gap is the most accessible first step before more expensive interventions.

Original Protein. Pea + Soy + Brown Rice. Complete amino acid profile. One scoop in morning kopi; tasteless, odourless, 21g before 8am.

Save this; and share it with whoever has been losing more hair than usual and hasn't looked at their protein intake yet. 🌱

Anti-aging is over. Skin longevity is what's replacing it.

Anti-aging treats damage after it shows up. Skin longevity prevents the damage from compounding in the first place. Dermatologists are moving toward 'preserve the barrier' instead of 'correct the wrinkle.'

And here's the part most skincare marketing skips: you can't serum your way into more ceramides. Your body has to make them, or you have to take them. The barrier is built from lipids and lipids sit deeper than what topical products structurally rebuild.

Korean and Japanese dermatology have already moved toward the 'In & Out' approach. Topical skincare on the outside. Ceramide and vitamin support from within. Each does what the other can't.

CeraYouth: Japanese Rice Ceramide + Vitamin C + Vitamin E. One sachet daily. Mixed berries. The inside half of a complete skin longevity routine.

Save this, the in-and-out approach is the new standard.

30 adults. 50-80 years old. 12 weeks. One mushroom changed the cognitive scores.

Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus). Distinctive white cascading tendrils. Asian native. Traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine for centuries. Only studied in clinical trials in the last 20 years.

The study: Mori, Inatomi et al., Yamagata Japan, published in Phytotherapy Research 2009. Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled. 3g of Lion's Mane daily for 16 weeks.

The results: cognitive scores rose every month in the supplement group. Placebo stayed flat. And 4 weeks after stopping, the gains disappeared. Translation: it works while you take it. Stop and the benefit fades.

Why it works: Lion's Mane contains erinacines and hericenones β€” compounds that stimulate NGF (Nerve Growth Factor). NGF supports the growth, maintenance, and survival of neurons. Most foods can't cross into this pathway.

Three mushrooms, three different jobs:
β†’ Lion's Mane β€” cognitive function and clarity
β†’ Reishi β€” adaptogen, stress response
β†’ Cordyceps β€” cellular energy production

Why a soup, not a capsule? Because the forgotten supplement bottle never delivered the dose. A warm meal is a moment to pause. 3g daily in a real-food format lands differently, physiologically and psychologically.

Soluxe Mushroom Soup. Real functional mushrooms. Real protein. Designed to nourish first.

We're posting our 1-star reviews. Most brands hide them.

Our chocolate is not for everyone.
Every one of those reviews is the brand working correctly.

Soluxe chocolate is for the people who already read ingredient lists. Who learned to like coffee black. Who keep dark chocolate on the desk and ignore the kids' snacks in the cupboard. Who don't want chocolate to taste like a milkshake.

Pea Chocolate Deluxe. Soy Dark Chocolate. Belgian and dark cocoa in the top 3. No sucralose. No maltodextrin. No flavour systems pretending to be food.

July is Chocolate Month at Soluxe. If that's you, welcome.

King's College London. 1,669 people. One cocoa compound stood out.

Not the flavanols you read about everywhere. Theobromine.

Published December 2025 in the journal Aging. The largest dataset to-date connecting a cocoa compound to measurable biological aging.

What they found: people with higher blood theobromine had biological ages younger than their chronological age. Two separate markers β€” DNA methylation and telomere length β€” both pointed the same direction. And theobromine was the ONLY cocoa or coffee compound with this association.

Why it works: theobromine is an alkaloid that influences how genes turn on and off β€” it interacts with the cellular systems that regulate gene activity.

But here's the part most chocolate marketing skips: the researchers themselves cautioned that this is NOT a license to eat more chocolate. Most supermarket chocolate has so little theobromine and so much sugar that the harm outweighs the benefit.

How to actually choose chocolate that delivers it:

βœ“ 75-80% cocoa solids minimum. Below 70% and theobromine content drops off a cliff.
βœ“ Cocoa in the top 3 ingredients. Not sugar. Not milk solids. Not vegetable fat.
βœ“ Under 8g sugar per serving. Processed sugar drives the inflammation that biological aging markers track.

The first ingredient on the label tells you what you're really buying.

Soluxe Pea Chocolate Deluxe and Soy Dark Chocolate,, Belgian and dark cocoa in the top 3, no sucralose, no maltodextrin. The cocoa compounds stay intact because the sugar doesn't drown them.

Comment THEOBROMINE below, we'll DM you the full King's College study + the Soluxe label scan to use on your next supermarket trip.

Diet Detective. Three products on the shelf right now. Three harmful ingredients hiding inside them. Can you spot all three before you swipe?

Product A: Position 5 on the label. Sounds like sugar but isn't.
β†’ Sucralose. A non-nutritive sweetener your gut bacteria don't recognise. Linked to microbiome disruption. Tastes 600Γ— sweeter than sugar and resets your sweetness threshold higher.

Product B: Position 3. The label calls it filler.
β†’ Maltodextrin. A bulking agent with a glycaemic index higher than table sugar. Your label calls it 'bulking agent.' Your pancreas calls it a glucose spike.

Product C: Position 8. The most legal phrase in food law.
β†’ 'Natural flavour.' Industry term for chemical flavour systems with no disclosure required. Could be 5 ingredients. Could be 50. The brand never has to tell you.

If you can spot these on a label, you've already done more than 90% of shoppers.

Soluxe doesn't use any of them. Every ingredient is named. Every ingredient earns its place.

Save this, use it next time you're standing in the supermarket aisle holding something you're not sure about.

Ever noticed why most chocolate milk says "Chocolate Flavoured Milk" instead of just "Chocolate Milk"? πŸ€”

That one word tells you there's more to the story.

The same goes for protein powders. Don't just look at the front of the packagingβ€”always flip it over and read the ingredient list.

Ask yourself:
βœ”οΈ Is the chocolate taste coming from real cocoa powder?
βœ”οΈ Or is it mainly from added flavourings?

The ingredient list tells you what you're actually paying for.

Read beyond the marketing. Read the label. πŸ‘€
