PEG and PG are widely used terms in the beauty and skin-care industry, but how many times have we reflected on what these certifications mean and how they impact us?
PEGs (polyethylene glycols) are commonly used as solvents, softeners, and moisture carriers.
However, they can enhance pe*******on, which might be an issue for damaged skin with a weakened barrier.
If this isn’t reason enough -
1. PEGs can change the surface tension of the skin, thus impacting the balance of moisture.
2. PEGs are frequently polluted throughout the manufacturing process with carcinogens such as ethylene oxide and 1,4 dioxane.
