શું ૪થા સ્ટેજના મોઢાના કેન્સરને ઓપરેશનથી સારું કરી શકાય? 🛑
કેન્સર વિશે લોકોમાં સૌથી મોટી ગેરસમજ એ છે કે "સ્ટેજ 4" એટલે બધું ખતમ. જ્યારે દર્દીઓ કે તેમના પરિવારજનો બાયોપ્સી કે PET સ્કેનના રિપોર્ટમાં "Stage 4" લખેલું જુએ છે, ત્યારે તેઓ ઘણીવાર બધી આશા ગુમાવી દે છે અને માની લે છે કે હવે કોઈ ઓપરેશન કે સારવાર શક્ય નથી.

જો ટ્યુમર મોટું હોય અને માત્ર ગળાની ગાંઠો (neck nodes) સુધી ફેલાયું હોય, તો તેને Stage 4A કહેવાય છે. આ સ્ટેજમાં આધુનિક 3D સર્જિકલ પ્લાનિંગ અને માઇક્રોવાસ્ક્યુલર રિકન્સ્ટ્રક્શન (પગના હાડકામાંથી નવું જડબું બનાવવાની ટેકનિક) દ્વારા કેન્સરને સંપૂર્ણપણે મટાડી (Cure કરી) શકાય છે.
કેન્સર ત્યારે જ અસાધ્ય (incurable) બને છે જ્યારે તે લોહી દ્વારા શરીરના અન્ય ભાગો જેવા કે ફેફસાં (lungs) કે લિવરમાં ફેલાય (જેને Stage 4C કહેવાય છે).
