The first day of Navratri, known as Pratipada, is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Shailaputri, who is considered the first of the nine forms of Goddess Durga (Navadurga).
Significance of Goddess Shailaputri:

The name "Shailaputri" is a combination of two Sanskrit words: "Shaila" meaning mountain and "Putri" meaning daughter. She is revered as the daughter of the king of mountains, Himavat (the Himalayas).
