Swara Bhasker has recalled an uncomfortable incident from the early years of her career, saying a director once insisted on rehearsing a romantic scene with her privately and later came to her room while allegedly drunk.

Speaking on Rise and Fall Season 2, Swara said the incident happened shortly after Tanu Weds Manu, when she was in her early twenties and working on what she described as her “big lead film.”

She recalled questioning why a romantic scene needed to be rehearsed privately with the director instead of with the actor and crew present. Later, after she returned to her guest house, she said the director came to her door late at night and repeatedly knocked.

According to Swara, when she eventually opened the door, the filmmaker asked her for a hug. She said she refused and told him she was scared.

Swara also spoke about the power imbalance between a young actor and a director on a film set, highlighting how difficult it can be for newcomers to navigate uncomfortable situations when senior professionals hold significant influence over their careers.
