World Heart Day 🫀

Your evening tonight:
20 minutes of doomscrolling
or 20 minutes of dirt?

Here's what Harvard Health says about gardening 👇

🌱 Classified as moderate-intensity exercise (3-5 METs)
🌱 Burns 200-400 calories per hour
🌱 Lowers blood pressure after just one session
🌱 Reduces cortisol (stress hormone) within 30 minutes
🌱 Soil bacteria (M. vaccae) triggers serotonin release

And here's what nobody tells you — every gardening move is a gym move in disguise:

💪 Digging = upper body workout
🦵 Weeding = squats & deep stretches
🏋️ Repotting = deadlifts (those pots are HEAVY)
🙆 Pruning = overhead press
🫀 Watering = cardio walk between pots

But unlike the gym:
→ No membership
→ No "leg day" guilt
→ No motivational playlist needed
→ Your workout gives you flowers 🌻

The best exercise is the one you actually do.
For millions of gardeners, that's 20 minutes of dirt.

This World Heart Day, put the phone down.
Pick the trowel up 🌱❤️

Happy World Heart Day from IFFCO Urban Gardens 🫀

Save this for when you need a reason
to step outside tonight 📌

If you plant nothing else this year, plant these 8 things in the next two weeks. 🌱
September is India's restart month: rains easing, nights cooling, sun still generous — winter greens germinate fast right now. Methi gives you a first cut in 3–4 weeks. Mooli in about five. And if you sow gainda (French marigold) by now, you'll have your own flowers for Diwali in November.
Swipe for the full list with days-to-harvest, then come back and save it — you'll want it this weekend. 📌
And this month we want to see yours. Post your sowing — seeds going in or first sprouts — tag and add . We'll feature your gardens in our Stories.
What's going in first — methi or marigold? 👇

There's a secret world beneath your pot — and it's doing half your gardening for you. 🕸️🌱

Meet mycorrhizae.

Microscopic fungi that wrap around roots like underground cables, exploring soil your roots will never reach.

🤯 Your plant's roots only touch 0.5% of the soil in its pot. The rest? These fungi handle it — trading water and nutrients for a little sugar from the plant.

Nature's oldest partnership. Millions of years old.

⚠️ The catch?

Pile on chemical fertilizer and the plant thinks "I don't need the network anymore." The fungi shut down. More feeding, weaker plant.

Swipe to learn how to protect this invisible network 📌
Save this for your next re-potting.
