🥶 One wants the blanket. 🔥 The other wants the AC.

It may not be a problem with either of you — you may simply have different Ayurvedic constitutions.

Vata Dosha is associated with Sheeta (coldness), so Vata-dominant people may naturally feel colder and seek warmth.
→ Keep warm, especially the hands and feet, and avoid excessive exposure to cold.

Pitta Dosha is associated with Ushna (heat), so Pitta-dominant people may naturally feel warmer and prefer cooler surroundings.
→ Stay hydrated, avoid excessive heat, and keep the environment comfortably cool.

✨ Different temperature preferences don’t automatically mean a dosha imbalance. Sometimes, it’s simply Ayurveda explaining why couples can never agree on the blanket.

Gentle note: Ayurveda offers a traditional framework for understanding individual tendencies. Feeling unusually cold or hot can also have other causes, so persistent or concerning symptoms are best discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.

🌼✨ Celebrating the spirit of Onam! ✨🌼

Today, we came together to celebrate Onam a festival that beautifully brings people together through culture, tradition, and gratitude. 💛

🐯 Pulikali (Tiger Dance): A vibrant folk art that adds colour and energy to the celebrations, symbolising joy and the festive spirit of Onam.

👑 Mahabali: The legendary King Mahabali represents prosperity, equality, and the spirit of a golden era when everyone lived with happiness and harmony.

🌸 Pookalam: A beautiful floral arrangement welcoming Mahabali and celebrating abundance, prosperity, and unity.

🍃 Sadya: No Onam is complete without the traditional Sadya;a grand feast served on a banana leaf. Traditionally, the meal is enjoyed in a mindful sequence: sweet preparations first, followed by the savoury accompaniments and curries, then rice with different curries, and finally buttermilkand payasam. This sequence is often associated with Ayurvedic principles of digestion and balance.

A celebration that brought together tradition, culture, food, and community. 💛

Happy Onam! 🌼✨

Exercise and Ingredients below for this 4-step Ayurvedic night routine 🌙🦶
Step 1 — Warm Foot Soak | 5–7 mins
Soak your feet in comfortably warm cow’s milk with sesame oil + a pinch of turmeric. This helps soften dry, rough skin and prepares the feet for the next steps.
Step 2 — Gentle Exfoliation | 1–2 mins
Once the skin softens, gently massage the heels using your fingers or a soft cloth. For tougher areas, you can use a mild paste of Triphala powder + milk.
WHY no hard brushing or aggressive pumice?
Cracked heels already have a weakened skin barrier. Scrubbing too hard can create tiny tears, worsen existing fissures and increase irritation.
WHY use your hands?
Your fingers give you better control over pressure. You can feel where the skin is tender, avoid pulling at cracks and remove only the loosened dead skin instead of over-exfoliating.
Step 3 — Pada Abhyanga + Foot Mobility | 5–7 mins
Warm a little oil and use the massage as a gentle foot-care exercise.
1. Ankles — Gulpha
• Apply oil around both ankles.
• Rotate each ankle 5 times clockwise and 5 times anticlockwise.
2. Heel — Parshni
• Massage the heel with your thumb using slow circular movements.
• Be gentle around deep or painful cracks—do not force pressure directly into an open fissure.
3. Sole — Tala
• Use both thumbs to stroke from the heel towards the toes.
• Apply gentle, comfortable pressure through the centre of the sole.
4. Toes
• Apply a little oil between the toes.
• Gently stretch and mobilise each toe without pulling forcefully.
5. Top of the foot
• Finish with smooth upward strokes from the toes towards the ankle.
Oil options:
🥇 Pinda Taila
🥈 Ksheerabala Taila
🥉 Sesame oil + a little ghee
The traditional principle is simple: first lubricate the affected area with oil, then follow with gentle warmth.
Step 4 — Lepa for Cracks | Overnight
Prepare a small paste using ghee + turmeric + Manjistha + honey and apply a thin layer only over the cracked areas. Leave it overnight and wash the feet the next morning.

🌿 12–15 minutes before bed can turn foot care into a simple Ayurvedic self-care ritual.

Don’t eat fruits this monsoon before knowing this. 🌧️🍌🍈
According to Ayurveda, digestion is naturally weaker during the rainy season. So it’s best to avoid fruits that are heavy, sticky, very sweet, unctuous or difficult to digest.
🍈 Guava: In Ayurveda, guava is considered guru (heavy) and can aggravate digestion during the monsoon when agni is naturally weakened. Fully ripe pink guava tends to be harder to digest, so a firmer, slightly unripe fruit is generally preferred in this season.
🍌 Banana: Bananas are madhura (sweet) and snigdha (unctuous), which can increase kapha when digestive fire is low. Hence, Yelakki banana is considered lighter and more suitable than Robusta, which may feel heavier and more abhishyandi (channel-blocking).
❤️ Pomegranate: Revered in Ayurveda as a tridosha-hara fruit, pomegranate supports digestion and is especially valued during monsoon for being laghu (light) yet nourishing. It is one of the most recommended fruits when agni is delicate.
Ayurveda reminds us: food is not only about nutrition, but about how well it aligns with your agni at that moment.

Your morning protein should be easy on your digestion too 🌿🥣
Many of us start the day with protein, but some can feel heavy and cause bloating—especially in monsoon.

That’s where this Sprouted Moong Soup works beautifully: sprouting improves nutrient availability, while well-cooked moong is a light, easy-to-digest source of plant protein.

Recipe:
Soak 100 g sprouted moong for 4 hours and cook until soft. Add a tempering of ghee, pepper, dry ginger and asafoetida, simmer for 10–20 minutes, blend smooth and add salt.
🌱 Sprouted moong — plant protein, fibre & nutrients
🫚 Dry ginger — supports digestion
🌶️ Pepper — adds digestive warmth
✨ Asafoetida — traditionally paired with dals for easier digestion

Your warm, savoury moong smoothie is ready!

🌶️ Why does Ayurveda prefer honey after spicy food?
Chilli gets its heat from capsaicin, which doesn’t dissolve well in water. So drinking water may not remove the burn — it can simply spread it around the mouth.
Ayurveda also considers very spicy food ushna, or heating, and excess can aggravate Pitta, leading to burning or irritation.
🍯 Honey, or Madhu, is traditionally described as having Ropana qualities — supportive of soothing and healing. Its thick texture can gently coat the tongue and mouth, making it a more calming choice after excess spice.
Ayurveda also advises against immediately gulping very cold water, as excessive cold may disturb Agni — the digestive fire.
So the idea is simple:
Don’t just cool the burn. Calm the excess heat while supporting digestion.
One important rule: never heat honey or add it to very hot food or drinks.

🍲 The ideal monsoon meal according to Ayurveda
When the rains arrive, our digestive fire (Agni) naturally becomes weaker. At the same time, Vāta gets aggravated, digestion slows, and the body becomes more prone to Āma (poorly digested toxins) and seasonal illnesses.
That’s why the classics recommend meals that are:
✨ Warm
✨ Light to digest
✨ Nourishing with a little ghee
✨ Slightly sour and salty
✨ Made with aged grains and easily digestible pulses
So today we’re making Purāṇa Mudga Yūṣa with Śāli Odana—a traditional monsoon meal described in the Ayurvedic texts.
🌾 Why these ingredients?
• Aged rice (Purāṇa Śāli): Light, easy to digest, and ideal when Agni is weak.
• Green gram (Mudga): Considered the best among pulses—light, nourishing, and helps balance Kapha while being gentle on digestion.
• Ghee: Lubricates and pacifies aggravated Vāta while supporting digestion.
• Dry ginger, Pippalī & Cumin: Classical digestive spices that kindle Agni, reduce bloating, and help prevent Āma.
• Rock salt: The lightest and most preferred salt in Ayurveda, supporting digestion.
• Amla (Amalaki, dried mango, or pomegranate): Provides the sour taste specifically recommended during Varṣā Ṛtu to support digestion.
• Turmeric: Supports healthy digestion and overall resilience during the damp season.
• Fresh coriander: Adds freshness while gently balancing the meal.
👩‍🍳 Recipe
Wash and soak ½ cup aged rice and ¼ cup whole green gram for 30 minutes.Heat 1½ tbsp ghee and temper with cumin, crushed pippalī, grated turmeric, and dry ginger.Add the soaked rice and moong, then pour in about 4 cups of hot water with rock salt.Simmer for 25–30 minutes until soft and soupy.Stir in your sour ingredient at the end, garnish with coriander, and finish with a drizzle of warm ghee.Simple, comforting, and designed for the season.
💛 Pair it with lightly cooked bitter vegetables and sip warm water instead of cold drinks. During the monsoon, it’s often the right food at the right time—not the richest food—that keeps digestion strong and the body resilient.

❄️ Celebrity ice face dunking—should you do it?

In this episode of Doctor Debunks, our doctor, Shweta Netke, within 30 seconds, explains why this viral trend may not be the best idea from an Ayurvedic perspective.

Ice face dunking may give your skin a temporary feeling of tightness, but according to Ayurveda, regular exposure to extreme cold can increase Vata—the dosha associated with dryness, roughness, and the natural ageing process—and make your skin feel much older! Vata is highest in older people, and an increase in Vata can make you age faster.

That temporary “tight” feeling isn’t the same as healthier skin.

For naturally healthy, firm-looking skin, nourish it with regular facial massage, proper hydration, and good sleep—not an ice shock.

Instead of shocking your skin every day, choose practices that nourish and support it according to your body’s needs.

Would you still try the ice dunk after knowing this? 👇

Dengue season is here—this is a must-watch. 🦟
💡 Interesting fact: Only female mosquitoes bite because they need blood to develop their eggs. Aedes mosquitoes also bite during the daytime, so protection shouldn’t stop after sunrise. ☀️
🌿 In Ayurveda, Neem or Nimba is described as Krimighna, which is why Neem Dhoop is traditionally used to help keep insects away.
Scientifically, burning neem releases strong-smelling volatile compounds into the air. These aromas may disturb mosquitoes’ sense of smell, making it harder for them to locate humans and discouraging them from entering the area. 🦟🚫
Use only a small amount in a well-ventilated space. Neem Dhoop is an additional measure—not a replacement for tested repellents, nets and removing stagnant water. ⚠️
✅ Empty stagnant water
✅ Cover water containers
✅ Use nets, screens and repellents
✅ Wear clothes that cover the skin
