One thing I wish I understood much earlier?

Getting better at nails isn’t just about learning more techniques.

If you’re at the stage where you carefully follow every step, finish the set and still look at it thinking:

“Something doesn’t look right… but I don’t know what.”

That’s the part you need to start training too.

Your eye, not just your hands.

To look at a nail and notice:

this side needs more product,
this one is too bulky,
the apex is sitting too low,
the shape still needs correcting.

And that’s exactly what I want you to learn when you train with me.

I don’t want you to wait for me to point at every mistake.

I want you to look at your own work and start seeing it yourself — before your client leaves your table.

Once you can see it, you can fix it.

There was a time when I thought being responsible meant holding on to both.

My full-time job gave me security, and nails gave me this feeling that maybe I could build something of my own.

For quite a while, I tried to keep both worlds going at the same time.

Looking back, I think what drained me most was constantly splitting my energy between where I was… and where I actually wanted to go.

And that’s something I understand very differently now when I meet girls who are trying to build their nail career around another job.

Because I remember exactly how much energy that stage takes.

Sometimes you’re not lacking ambition.
You’re simply trying to build something important with very little space left for it.

Are you in that stage right now — working a job and doing nails around it?

Looking back at this version of me feels a little strange now.

I had no idea where nails would take me. I didn’t know if I would be good enough, if I would find clients or if I could ever turn it into something real.

And maybe that’s why today I understand beginners so well.

Because when a student tells me she feels nervous, unsure of herself or like everyone else already knows more than she does… I remember exactly what that felt like.

I didn’t start confident.
I became confident by learning, practising, making mistakes and simply staying with it.

So if you’re at the beginning now, I don’t expect you to have everything figured out.

I just want you to know that where you are now doesn’t have to be where you stay. 🤍

I think sometimes we wait for things to feel easier before we decide to move.

For work to calm down. For life to be less busy. For confidence to come first. For there to finally be a “better time”.

But most of the time, that moment doesn’t really arrive on its own.

At some point, you just realise that staying in the same place is starting to frustrate you more than the effort it would take to change something.

And maybe that’s the point.

You don’t need to suddenly become a completely different person or have everything figured out. You just need to stop treating the thing you want as something you’ll deal with “later”.

Because later can very easily turn into another six months. Or another year.

And if you already know what you want to improve, change or build, maybe this is your sign to actually give it a proper chance.

Have you ever finished a training thinking, “Okay, I’ve got this”… and then tried it on a client and suddenly nothing worked the way you expected? 😅

I have.

And I remember how quickly the excitement turned into questioning myself.

For a long time I thought that if I knew all the steps, I should be able to recreate the same result.

But knowing the steps and understanding what you’re doing are two very different things.

You need to know what you’re looking at, what can affect the result and where to look when something doesn’t go to plan.

That’s something I care about so much now when I teach.

I don’t want you to leave knowing only what to do next.

I want you to understand your decisions enough to know what to change when “next” doesn’t work. 🤍

Have you ever had a moment after training when you thought: “But I did exactly what I was shown…”?

She had never done nails before this day.

That’s exactly why I want to document Bonnie’s journey.

Not just the finished sets — but the learning, the mistakes, the moments something clicks and the confidence that grows with practice.

Day 1 is done.
Now let’s see what 4 months can change. 🤍

One of the biggest shifts in my work came when I stopped thinking:

“Which gel do I like using?”

and started thinking:

“What does this nail actually need?”

Two clients can book the same service and still need a different product choice.

And that’s exactly why I don’t want a student to leave my training knowing only which product I used.

I want you to understand why I chose it.

So when the next client sits down with completely different nails, you’re not repeating what worked last time and hoping for the same result.

You can look at the nail, assess it and make your own decision.

That’s the difference between knowing the steps and understanding what you’re doing.

READY TO STOP GUESSING WHICH PRODUCT TO USE?

DM “TRAINING” and let’s find the right training for you.

A little more of the person behind Blush Nail Academy. 🤍

I think sometimes it’s easy to look at someone online and only see where they are now.

You don’t always see the restarts, the doubts, the years of figuring things out, or how many times they had to build themselves back up.

That’s probably why I care so much about the beginner stage.

I know how uncomfortable it feels to be learning, trying, second-guessing yourself and wondering if you’re ever going to feel like you really know what you’re doing.

You will.

Not overnight.
Not perfectly.
But step by step.

And if you’re new here, I’m really glad you found me. 🤍
