When youāre used to being REALLY blonde, lived-in colour can feel dark at first.
She hadnāt had her colour done in nearly two years. Sheād been unwell, maintaining her blonde simply hadnāt been a priority, and when she was ready to come back to colour, she wanted to feel bright again.
Before this, she was used to being a full blonde.
And thatās where the balance comes in.
When someone is used to seeing themselves really bright, leaving depth in the hair can initially feel dark even when thereās plenty of blonde there.
So I concentrated that brightness where sheās going to see and feel it most: around her face.
That keeps the whole colour feeling elevated and blonde, while the depth through the rest of the hair gives us dimension, healthier hair and, most importantly for her, a really soft grow-out.
Could we have packed more blonde through it? Of course.
But then weāre putting her straight back into the cycle of more maintenance, more overlapping and more stress on the hair.
This way, she gets to feel blonde again without her hair dictating her diary.
She can get 6ā9 months from this colour and it will simply get softer as it grows.
The goal isnāt always the most blonde I can possibly fit into your hair.
Itās finding the balance between the hair you want, the health of your hair and the life you actually live. š¤
COLLABORATION HAPPENS AT THE TOP.
COMPETITION HAPPENS AT THE BOTTOM.
The longer Iām in this industry, the more I understand this.
The people doing really well arenāt sitting around worrying about what everyone else is doing. Theyāre sharing rooms, sharing knowledge, recommending each other, opening doors and having conversations.
Because someone else being brilliant doesnāt take anything away from you.
You donāt need to dim somebody elseās light to make yours look brighter.
And you donāt get better by always being the best person in the room.
You get better by surrounding yourself with people who challenge you, inspire you and make you raise your own standards.
IRON SHARPENS IRON.
There is room for all of us to be fu***ng brilliant.
BLEACH HAS NO CONSCIENCE. looking after your hair for months getting it to a really healthy state and then overloading it with lightener is something Iām not gonna let happen. BLEACH HAS NO CONSCIENCE. Using XL SHADES 09GI & BLONDEIQ9LEVEL
Iāll always admit when Iām wrong š
But I also like to actually test things before I decide.
I genuinely thought rollers were rollers. With all the cheap ones popping up on Shein, Temu etc, I was very much in the āhow different can they actually be?ā camp.
Well⦠apparently VERY different š
from sent me their rollers and this was genuinely my blind reaction trying them for the first time.
Iām SO impressed.
Theyāre extra wide, they donāt catch or pull on the hair, thereās loads of different sizes, they come with pins AND they all come in a deadly little travel bag.
So I take it back. Rollers are not, in fact, just rollers š
This is one of those things where Iād actually say spend the money and buy them from a proper roller company instead of ordering the cheap ones from Temu or Shein.
Consider me converted š
The goal was blonde. So why did I spend months making her darker?
Roza first came to me in January with a block of blonde and a lot of breakage , particularly around the hairline, & throughout her hair.
So we played the long game.
Over the last few months, weāve been adding natural depth back in with lowlights and Shades EQ root shadows, slowly softening out that block blonde while giving her hair a chance to get stronger.
At home, sheās been using Extreme, weāve kept up her treatments in salon, and I had her get a shower filter too.
Today, her hair was finally ready for some lightness again šš»
Instead of going back in and blonding everything, I used my Diffused Lightness technique a soft tease on a slice throughout the hair, deliberately leaving plenty of that natural depth weāve worked so hard to get back.
That natural isnāt something I want to cover. Itās what gives us the softness, blend and dimension.
Root shadowed with Shades EQ 08N, treated with Triple Bright and finished with a clear gloss all over.
Hair recovery doesnāt mean you can never be blonde again.
Sometimes it just means we need to rebuild the foundations before we start adding the blonde back in. š¤š»

But they need proof they know what theyāre doing.
Iāve seen hairdressers being told to dance around the salon for TikToks.
Personally? I think it can make your salon look like youāve nothing better to be doing.
And please stop only posting the back of peopleās heads.
