My first in-person Toastmasters meeting was a little scary, and I actually surprised myself by feeling that way.

I speak publicly from time to time, so I thought I would walk into the room feeling confident and completely at ease. But nope!!! There were nerves. Being in a new environment, surrounded by new faces, and not really knowing what to expect made me feel a little out of my comfort zone.

It reminded me that being comfortable speaking in one setting doesn’t automatically mean I’ll feel confident in every setting. Sometimes, even when we know we are capable, new experiences can still make us nervous.

As the meeting went on, though, I slowly started to relax. I listened, observed, laughed, and stayed present instead of worrying about whether I was saying or doing the right thing.

Looking back, I’m glad I went. That little bit of fear reminded me that I’m still growing. And maybe that’s the whole point: showing up even when you feel nervous, allowing yourself to be a beginner again, and seeing where the experience takes you.

My first in-person Toastmasters meeting wasn’t just about public speaking for me. It was about stepping into something new, feeling the nerves, and choosing to stay anyway. And I’m looking forward to seeing how much I grow from here.👌👑🎊
