During the World Cup, Thiaw signed a three-year contract worth around €46,000 per month, along with a signing bonus of approximately €183,000.

However, the agreement was never officially approved by the State, despite the government being the designated third-party payer in the deal.

As a result, the government says it cannot honour the financial terms of the contract.

For now, the Senegalese Football Federation will have to shoulder the full financial burden of Thiaw's contract on its own if it wants to proceed with confirming his appointment.
