The NHS is rolling out HPV self-testing kits in England for women and people with a cervix aged 30 to 65 who have not attended cervical screening following previous invitations.

The test can be completed at home and checks for high-risk HPV, which can cause cervical cell changes. If high-risk HPV is found, you’ll be invited to book a follow-up cervical screening appointment so your cervical cells can be checked.

The kits are available by invitation only and do not replace routine cervical screening, but they offer another option for people who face barriers to attending an appointment.

Cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable through HPV vaccination, cervical screening and timely treatment. Providing more choice is another important step towards eliminating cervical cancer.
