I think one of the biggest flexes as a hairdresser is being willing to challenge what you’ve always done, keep learning and grow. 🌿
After everything I’ve been through, I made a decision:
I’m no longer willing to risk my own health for your blonde hair. Sorry, not sorry. 😂
I have a family. I want to be here to watch my children grow up. And for me personally, spending my working life mixing, breathing in and handling traditional hair colour chemicals just isn’t a risk I want to take anymore.
Better safe than sorry, in my opinion.
So I challenged nearly 30 years of hairdressing and learnt a completely different way to colour hair…
🌿 PLANTS.
The plant colours I now work with score 100/100 on the Yuka app 🙌🌱
And genuinely, I feel so much happier in my salon knowing I’m not standing there handling toxic s**t all day. 😂
Do plants behave exactly like chemical colour? Nope.
Do they challenge me as a hairdresser? Absolutely.
But I’m learning, experimenting and falling in love with colour all over again — while creating beautiful hair in a way that feels right for me, my health and Aura.
Sometimes being experienced isn’t about doing what you’ve always done.
It’s being brave enough to change. 🌿

🍁🍂🎃October is a weird month for us. It's our favourite time of year, we love the cooler days, autumn colours, halloween and the start of the Christmas countdown.
It's also the month Seirian was diagnosed with cancer and flashbacks to that time can catch us unawares. We know it's important to process past traumas, to recognise what they were and feel the pain of them in safe and caring ways. It's ok to talk about it, remember the events and feelings we had, and be sure to say well that was then and this is now.
🧡Now Seirian is doing full days in high school with great support from school. She has a space she can go to for rest and help to move around the huge campus. There are some hurdles but we're fixing things where we can so that Seirian experiences classes in a positive way.
Yes she's hurting a lot more, and is absolutely exhausted. But we can see that usual quiet determination in her that eeks forward, small step after small step.
Balancing her energy 'spoonies' is a daily task as she wants to do so much.
But Seirian is doing more than she realises, a lot of school, a little bit of Taekwondo, a little Badgers, swim lessons and more than a dash of turning into a tweenager with even more sass.
And we're all getting used to our knees hurting going up and down the stairs in our new home which is organised chaos, but we love the place ❤️

What a beautiful inspiring young lady.
At I think age 7 she was diagnosed with leukaemia.
She had a horrific 3 years and lost 3 years of her childhood in hospital beds ..
She came in and and was so chatty and lovely I felt very honoured to have done her hair on the house obviously ..
We complain about such trivial things and this put things right into perspective..
We had a lot in common so I'm glad we could offer her a space to talk and someone understand a bit of what's she's been though.

Two experienced hairdressers whose lives and careers were changed by cancer are opening a new holistic salon in Wrexham.
Sarah Jane Ratcliffe, 45, and Kimberly Noble, 48, are behind Aura Holistic Hair & Beauty, which is opening in Wrexham Butcher’s Market today (September 26).
The pair have almost 60 years of hairdressing experience between them, but both have had to rethink the way they work following cancer diagnoses.
