It really is that quick 🙌
How does freezing a skin lesion actually treat it? 🤔
Cryotherapy uses an intense, targeted burst of cold to destroy the cells in a lesion like a skin tag, mole or wart, without any surgery or downtime.
The area blisters slightly, scabs and naturally sheds over the following days, taking the lesion with it. It sounds dramatic, but it's actually one of the quickest, lowest risk in-clinic treatments we do.
As a doctor, I always assess the lesion first. Not everything that looks harmless should be frozen without a proper look, so this is never a DIY situation.
If you've got something you've been ignoring for months, this is usually a 60 second fix!

Transparency is key... 💅✨
While we're tracking the settling process of my half-face experiment, here’s a little reminder of what actually goes into maintaining full face skin longevity behind the scenes.
When patients ask how to keep skin looking fresh, radiant and well-rested, the answer is rarely “just drinking water.” It’s a carefully planned combination of regenerative skin treatments, targeted line management and clinical-grade skincare.
And before anyone asks… no, I don’t usually treat this many areas on myself 🤣 I simply don’t need to.
For this experiment however, I deliberately treated multiple areas across one half of my face to demonstrate how the different facial muscles move, how they interact with and balance one another, and how treating one area can influence the result elsewhere.
It’s not about treating every muscle, it’s about understanding how they work together and creating a treatment plan that’s appropriate for the individual face. 🩺✨

True aesthetic rejuvenation is never about changing your features
It’s about restoring the underlying support that keeps you feeling like yourself ✨
As we age, the delicate skin around the mouth gradually loses bone density, collagen, and tissue volume. This natural shift leads to soft vertical perioral lines, loss of lip border crispness, and a subtle down-turning of the lower face.
Through precise, medical-grade perioral and lip restoration, we focus on subtle structural rejuvenation rather than artificial volume:
1️⃣ Restoring Architectural Support: By gently reinforcing the vermilion border and perioral frame, we rebuild the tissue support that softens deep-set vertical lines.
2️⃣ Refining Fine Texture: Micro-hydrating dermal fillers placed at precise anatomical depths lift vertical creases, leaving the skin around your mouth smooth, firm, and radiant.
3️⃣ Natural Movement & Elegance: Our doctor-led approach ensures your lips retain their natural, beautiful movement when speaking, smiling, and expressing, never overfilled, never distorted.
Restoring lower-face harmony brings a renewed sense of poise and quiet confidence to your everyday appearance 🩺🤍

Half of my face had completely stopped creasing! 😳
By day five of my half-face experiment, the difference was pretty dramatic… and yes, I was genuinely walking around like this 😅
But the most interesting part wasn't simply seeing a treated side vs an untreated side. It was being able to seem, and actually feel, how different facial muscles work together, and how treating one area can influence the overall result.
1️⃣ Movement vs relaxation: On the treated side, targeted muscles had significantly reduced movement, so the overlying skin was no longer repeatedly folding and creasing with expression.
2️⃣ My brow lift became even more noticeable: Treating around my crow's feet reduced some of the downward pull around the outer brow, complementing the brow lift and making that eye appear more open. I could actually feel the difference too, my eyelid felt noticeably less heavy!
3️⃣ My lower face showed the same muscle interplay: The chin, DAO and platysma all contribute to the complex balance of movement and downward pull across the lower face. Treating them together made the difference between the two sides particularly obvious when I animated my face.
4️⃣ One unexpected everyday difference? I stopped getting that little lipstick transfer line across the upper part of my chin on the treated side when I ate, simply because my chin wasn't contracting and bunching in the same way.
This is exactly why I don't look at facial muscles in isolation. Good treatment isn't simply about chasing individual lines; it's understanding the anatomy, how muscles oppose or complement one another, and how changing one part of that balance can influence the face as a whole. 🩺

"I’ve just had treatment... should my face look this wonky?!" 😳🫣
Day 3 was when the half-face experiment started to get interesting!
When a full face treatment is injected correctly by a medical professional, the settling phase is smooth and balanced, movement softens evenly across both sides unless one specific muscle group happens to be significantly stronger.
However, because I intentionally treated only the left side of my face (be sure to check out those videos 😅), Day 3 brought the ultimate contrast:
1️⃣ Targeted Softening Begins: On the treated side, the signals to the underlying muscles were starting to quieten down, resulting in noticeably reduced movement and smoother skin.
2️⃣ The Intentional "Wonky" Look: Meanwhile, the untreated right side still had 100% full contraction strength. Raising my brows or expressing produced a completely asymmetrical, unbalanced movement!
3️⃣ Reassurance for Patients: If you ever notice subtle differences during your own treatment journey, remember that muscles can settle at slightly different rates during the first few days, but everything balances out by Day 14.
Seeing one side completely locked while the other was fully mobile proved just how powerful precision placement really is 🩺

Treating just ONE side of my face… all in the name of education 🩺💉
For this experiment, I’ve treated multiple areas across one half of my face while leaving the other completely untreated. So, over the next couple of weeks, we can watch exactly what changes.
Now, I wouldn’t usually treat this many areas on myself because I simply don’t need to 🤣 But that’s exactly what makes this experiment interesting.
Facial muscles don’t work independently. They pull against, oppose and balance one another, which means changing the activity of one muscle can influence movement elsewhere.
By treating several muscle groups on just one side, I can show you:
1️⃣ How individual muscles contribute to different facial expressions and lines
2️⃣ How reducing movement in one area can affect the balance of surrounding muscles
3️⃣ Why treatment isn’t simply about “injecting a line” . Placement, dose, depth and your individual anatomy all matter
And because the other half of my face is staying completely untreated, we have the perfect built-in comparison 👀
Now we wait for it to settle… and this is where things are going to get interesting.
Follow along for the half-face results 🤍

I did this to half my face so you don’t have to! 🩺😳
As a doctor, I get asked all the time: “What actually happens if I don't maintain my treatments?” or “How much difference does addressing dynamic lines really make?” or "Do I really need both those areas treated, or can I just skip one"
So, I decided to put it to the test on my own face.
I treated only one side of my face and left the other side completely untouched. The experiment is complete, the results are in, and the difference is incredible.
Over the next week, I am sharing the entire step-by-step journey with you, from the exact treatment process to the settling phase, the final results, and the ultimate side-by-side comparison.
Make sure you save this post and keep checking back all week to watch the experiment unfold! 🤍

Practitioner tip: stop filling your sharps bins with empty syringe barrels! 🟡🗑️
If you’re throwing the entire aesthetic syringe into your sharps container after every treatment, your clinical waste boxes are going to fill up twice as fast as they need to.
1️⃣ Use the built-in needle notch on your sharps lid (or a safe single-handed detachment technique) to drop only the contaminated needle into the yellow sharps box.
2️⃣ The unsharpened, non-infectious plastic syringe barrel can then go into your standard clinical/offensive waste according to your local waste management guidelines.
3️⃣ By only putting actual sharp items into your sharps bin, you prevent premature overfilling and keep your clinical setup running smoothly.
A clean, efficient, and safety-compliant clinic is always in style! 🩺🤍
