πŸ‚βœ¨ AUTUMN SKINCARE TIPS FOR MATURE SKIN βœ¨πŸ‚

When is skin considered β€œmature”?

There isn't a specific age when skin suddenly becomes mature. In skincare, the term is commonly used from around 40+, but everyone's skin ages differently depending on genetics, lifestyle, sun exposure and hormones.

As we head into autumn, cooler air and indoor heating can leave mature skin feeling drier, duller and less comfortable β€” so it's the perfect time to focus on hydration and nourishment.

πŸ’§ 1. Prioritise hydration
Mature skin can become more prone to dryness and dehydration. Look for hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin and aloe vera to help replenish moisture.

🧴 2. Nourish your skin barrier
A good moisturiser helps keep hydration locked in and supports the skin's natural barrier. Look for nourishing ingredients such as ceramides, squalane and fatty acids.

🫧 3. Keep cleansing gentle
Avoid harsh cleansers that leave your skin feeling tight. A gentle, nourishing cleanser can remove makeup, SPF and impurities without unnecessarily stripping the skin.

🍁 4. Exfoliate gently
Regular gentle exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and improve the appearance of dull, uneven skin. But more isn't better β€” over-exfoliation can leave mature skin feeling irritated and dehydrated.

✨ 5. Look after your skin's glow
As skin cell turnover naturally slows with age, skin can start to look a little dull. Hydration, gentle exfoliation and nourishing skincare can help bring back that healthy-looking glow.

πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ 6. Don't forget massage
Facial massage can be a lovely addition to your routine, helping you relax while giving your skincare routine a luxurious feel. Think of it as a little self-care for both your skin and your mind.

β˜€οΈ 7. SPF is non-negotiable
One of the most important things you can do for your skin at any age is protect it from UV exposure. Keep using a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning, even through autumn and winter.

πŸŒ™ 8. Give your skin extra nourishment at night
Night-time is a great opportunity to use richer, nourishing products if your skin needs them. Think hydration, barrier support and ingredients targeted towards your individual concerns.

πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ 9. Treat your skin to professional TLC
Mature skin can benefit from a facial tailored to its individual needs β€” whether that's hydration, nourishment, gentle exfoliation, massage or improving the appearance of dull and tired-looking skin.

πŸ‚ AUTUMN SKIN GOAL:
Hydrate. Nourish. Protect. Restore that healthy-looking glow. ✨

And remember…

Mature skin isn't a problem to fix. It's skin that deserves a little extra care. 🀍

πŸ‚πŸ€ AUTUMN SKINCARE TIPS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN πŸ€πŸ‚

Cooler temperatures, chilly winds and indoor heating can all make sensitive skin feel more reactive as we head into autumn.

If your skin is prone to redness, tightness, stinging or irritation, now is the time to give your skin barrier some extra TLC.

🫧 1. Keep cleansing gentle
Choose a gentle cleanser and avoid anything that leaves your skin feeling tight or squeaky clean. Your skin barrier needs its natural protective oils.

πŸ’§ 2. Hydration is your friend
Sensitive skin can easily become dehydrated. Look for gentle hydrating ingredients such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid and aloe vera to help keep skin comfortable and hydrated.

🧴 3. Protect your skin barrier
A nourishing moisturiser can help support the skin barrier and protect it from the colder, drier autumn air. Look for barrier-supporting ingredients such as ceramides.

🍁 4. Don't over-exfoliate
Sensitive skin doesn't need to be scrubbed into submission! Frequent exfoliation can increase irritation. If your skin is particularly reactive, give exfoliation a miss until it feels comfortable again.

🌑️ 5. Avoid extreme temperatures
Very hot showers, baths and facial steaming can aggravate sensitive skin. Opt for comfortably warm water instead.

🌿 6. Keep your routine simple
Autumn isn't the time to introduce five new products at once. Introduce new products gradually and patch test where appropriate, especially if your skin is easily irritated.

β˜€οΈ 7. SPF is still important
UV exposure doesn't disappear when summer ends. Continue using a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning.

πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ 8. Choose calming treatments
If your skin is feeling particularly reactive, a gentle, soothing facial may be more appropriate than an intensive treatment. Your skin doesn't always need more β€” sometimes it needs less.

✨ AUTUMN SKIN GOAL:
Calm. Hydrate. Protect. Strengthen. πŸ‚

And remember β€” sensitive skin is different for everyone. If your skin is persistently red, painful, burning or irritated, it's worth speaking to a healthcare professional rather than trying to treat the problem with lots of new skincare products.

🀍 Happy skin = healthy skin.

πŸ‚βœ¨ AUTUMN SKINCARE TIPS FOR COMBINATION SKIN βœ¨πŸ‚

Combination skin can be tricky β€” you might have an oily T-zone while your cheeks feel perfectly comfortable, dry or even dehydrated.

As the weather cools, your skin may need a little extra attention to keep everything balanced.

🫧 1. Choose a gentle cleanser
You don't need to use a harsh cleanser to control oil. Look for something that removes excess sebum and impurities without leaving the drier areas of your face feeling tight.

πŸ’§ 2. Hydrate without overloading
Combination skin still needs hydration. A lightweight hydrating serum can help replenish moisture without making oilier areas feel greasy.

🧴 3. Moisturise according to your skin's needs
You don't necessarily have to treat your whole face exactly the same. Use a lightweight moisturiser all over and add a little extra nourishment to areas that feel dry or tight.

🍁 4. Don't over-exfoliate
It can be tempting to concentrate on the oily areas, but too much exfoliation can leave the rest of your skin irritated and dehydrated. Gentle exfoliation is the way to go.

πŸ’¦ 5. Watch for dehydration
Combination skin can be oily AND dehydrated at the same time. If your skin feels tight after cleansing but becomes shiny later, your skin may need more hydration rather than more oil control.

β˜€οΈ 6. Keep using SPF
Autumn doesn't mean abandoning your SPF! Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning. A lightweight, non-comedogenic formula can work particularly well for combination skin.

πŸ‚ 7. Don't fight your skin
Your skin doesn't have to fit neatly into one category. Your T-zone might need oil control while your cheeks need hydration β€” and that's completely normal.

πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ 8. Let your facial be tailored to you
Combination skin can really benefit from a personalised facial, where different areas can be treated according to what they actually need β€” rather than using one approach across the entire face.

✨ AUTUMN SKIN GOAL:
Balance your oils. Boost hydration. Protect your barrier. Keep that glow. πŸ‚

And remember… your skin can change with the seasons, so your skincare routine may need to change with it. πŸ’•

πŸ‚βœ¨ AUTUMN SKINCARE TIPS FOR OILY SKIN βœ¨πŸ‚

Cooler weather doesn't necessarily mean oily skin switches off! Autumn can bring a mixture of excess oil, dehydration, blocked pores and changes in your skin's balance.

✨ 1. Don't over-cleanse
It can be tempting to use strong cleansers to remove excess oil, but stripping your skin can leave it feeling dehydrated and uncomfortable. Choose a gentle cleanser that removes excess oil without leaving your skin tight.

πŸ’§ 2. Don't skip moisturiser
Oily skin still needs hydration! Choose a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated without feeling heavy or greasy.

🍁 3. Exfoliate β€” but don't overdo it
Regular gentle exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and prevent buildup in pores. However, too much exfoliation can irritate your skin and disrupt the skin barrier.

πŸ’¦ 4. Look after dehydration too
Oily skin can also be dehydrated. If your skin feels tight after cleansing but becomes oily again quickly, it may be craving hydration rather than more oil control.

🧴 5. Choose lightweight layers
Serums and lightweight moisturisers can give oily skin the hydration it needs without the heavy feeling. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin and niacinamide can be useful additions to an oily-skin routine.

β˜€οΈ 6. Keep your SPF going
SPF is an everyday essential, even as the days get cooler. Look for a lightweight, non-comedogenic formula if you dislike a greasy finish.

πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ 7. Hands off those spots!
Autumn breakouts can be frustrating, but squeezing and picking can increase inflammation and potentially lead to marks and scarring.

πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ 8. Give congested skin some professional TLC
If your skin is feeling congested, dull or unbalanced, a professional facial can help cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate your skin without resorting to harsh, stripping treatments.

πŸ‚ Remember:
Oily skin doesn't need to be stripped β€” it needs to be balanced.

The goal isn't to remove every trace of oil. It's to keep your skin clean, hydrated, comfortable and balanced. ✨

πŸ‚πŸ’§ AUTUMN SKINCARE TIPS FOR DRY & DEHYDRATED SKIN πŸ’§πŸ‚

Cooler temperatures, wind and indoor heating can be particularly challenging for dry and dehydrated skin. Autumn is the perfect time to give your skin barrier a little extra love.

πŸ’§ 1. Focus on hydration AND moisture
Dehydrated skin is lacking water, while dry skin is lacking oil. Look for hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin and aloe vera, alongside nourishing moisturising ingredients that help keep that hydration locked in.

🧴 2. Choose a nourishing moisturiser
Your summer moisturiser may no longer be enough. A richer cream can help support the skin barrier and reduce that uncomfortable tight or flaky feeling.

🫧 3. Don't over-cleanse
Avoid very hot water and harsh, foaming cleansers that can strip the skin. Opt for a gentle, creamy or nourishing cleanser instead.

🍁 4. Be careful with exfoliation
Dry, flaky skin doesn't always mean you need to scrub it away! Over-exfoliating can make an already compromised skin barrier even more uncomfortable. Keep exfoliation gentle and don't overdo it.

πŸ’¦ 5. Apply hydration to slightly damp skin
After cleansing, apply your hydrating serum while the skin is still slightly damp, then follow with your moisturiser to help seal everything in.

β˜€οΈ 6. Keep using SPF
SPF isn't just for summer. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning to protect your skin throughout the year.

🏠 7. Watch the indoor heating
Central heating can make the air around you drier, which can leave your skin feeling even more dehydrated. Keep up your hydration routine and give your skin extra nourishment when needed.

πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ 8. Give your skin a professional hydration boost
If your complexion is feeling tight, dull, flaky or lacking that healthy glow, autumn is the perfect time for a hydrating facial. Professional treatments can help replenish moisture and leave dry, dehydrated skin feeling softer, smoother and more comfortable.

✨ Autumn skin goal:
Hydrate. Nourish. Protect. Restore. πŸ‚

Your skin doesn't need more products β€” it needs the right products for what it's experiencing.

A LITTLE REMINDER FOR ALL CLIENTS πŸ’•

I just wanted to gently remind everyone that my daughter has a weak immune system, which means that illnesses that may be a mild cold for one person can potentially become much more serious for her and could result in a hospital admission.

If she becomes unwell and needs to be in hospital, it unfortunately means that all of my appointments would have to be cancelled while I care for her. I really want to avoid this wherever possible.

So, if you currently have a cold, have recently had a cold, or are experiencing any cold/flu-like symptoms, please let me know before coming to your appointment. Please don't worry about telling me β€” I'd much rather know and be able to put measures in place than have you arrive without mentioning it. ❀️

Where appropriate, I can wear a mask during your treatment and provide a mask for you to wear too, helping to reduce the risk of passing anything on.

Please understand that if you are symptomatic and refuse to wear a mask when requested, I will unfortunately need to cancel the appointment and your booking fee will be forfeited.

This isn't about judging anyone for being ill β€” colds happen! It's simply about taking a few extra precautions to protect my daughter and, in turn, help me keep the salon running and your appointments going ahead.

Thank you so much for understanding, being honest with me and helping me keep her safe. πŸ’•
