You're allowed to change your mind about what you're willing to carry. 🤍
Just because you've always been the one who copes doesn't mean you always have to.
Just because you've always said yes doesn't mean you can't start saying no.
And just because you've spent years taking responsibility for how everyone else feels doesn't mean that responsibility was ever really yours.
As you become more aware of yourself, you might start noticing the things you've been carrying simply because you've carried them for so long.
Other people's expectations.
Other people's emotions.
The pressure to keep everyone happy.
The guilt that appears when you choose yourself.
The belief that being a good person means always being available.
You don't have to make a big announcement when that begins to change.
You don't have to explain every decision.
And you don't need everyone else to understand the boundaries you place for yourself.
You can simply begin making different choices.
Choosing what you have the capacity for.
Choosing what feels right for you.
Choosing when to step back.
Choosing not to automatically pick up what belongs to somebody else.
That doesn't make you selfish.
It means you're beginning to recognise that your needs belong in the picture too.
You are allowed to decide that what you've always carried...
isn't something you want to keep carrying. 🤍
Sometimes you don't realise how much you've changed until you notice you're responding differently to something that used to affect you. 🤍
Growth isn't always a huge breakthrough.
Sometimes it's catching yourself before you spiral into overthinking.
It's saying no without spending the next hour feeling guilty about it.
It's noticing when you're being hard on yourself... and choosing not to carry on.
It's recognising that you're exhausted and actually allowing yourself to rest.
It's placing a boundary where you once would have ignored what you needed — without always feeling the need to explain it.
It's something happening that would once have completely thrown you... and realising it doesn't have the same hold over you anymore.
These things can be so easy to overlook because they don't always feel like big moments.
There might not be a point where you suddenly think,
“That's it. I've healed.”
Sometimes you only recognise how far you've come when life gives you a familiar situation...
and you meet it as a slightly different version of yourself.
So if you've been wondering whether you're actually making any progress, maybe don't only look for the big changes.
Look at the small moments too.
The things you're noticing.
The things you're questioning.
The things you're no longer accepting.
The way you're beginning to speak to yourself.
The choices you're making differently.
Sometimes that's where your growth has been quietly showing itself all along. 🤍

You might have heard people talk about “regulating your nervous system”... but what does that actually mean in everyday life?
It doesn't always look like meditation, breathwork or having everything completely calm.
Sometimes it's much simpler than that.
It's noticing you're overwhelmed and giving yourself five minutes instead of automatically pushing through.
It's feeling yourself getting worked up and not responding straight away.
It's going for a walk because you know you need some space.
It's noticing the tension in your body when your mouth is still saying, “I'm fine.”
It's allowing yourself to rest without spending the whole time thinking about everything you should be doing.
When we've spent a long time stressed, overwhelmed or constantly dealing with the next thing, some of these responses can become so familiar that we don't even notice them anymore.
They can just feel like us.
That's why awareness matters.
Because regulating your nervous system isn't about never feeling stressed, upset or triggered.
It's about beginning to recognise what's happening within you — and learning that you don't always have to follow the same automatic response.
Sometimes the first step really is just noticing. 🤍

You don't have to respond to everything you notice.
For a long time, I think a lot of us mistake awareness for needing to do something.
Someone's behaviour changes and you notice it — so you question it.
Something doesn't sit right — so you try to work out why.
Someone is upset with you — so you explain yourself.
There's tension — so you try to fix it.
You feel misunderstood — so you keep talking, hoping they'll eventually understand what you mean.
But becoming more aware of yourself can create a little bit of space between what happens and what you do next.
You can notice that something has affected you without immediately reacting to it.
You can notice the urge to explain yourself without automatically explaining.
You can notice that somebody's behaviour doesn't sit right with you without convincing yourself you're overthinking it.
And sometimes, you can simply notice what somebody is showing you.
Not everything needs confronting.
Not everything needs fixing.
And not everything needs an immediate decision.
Sometimes awareness starts with something much quieter:
“I noticed that.”
And giving yourself enough space to see what comes next. 💜

📍 My office moves around a little. 🤣🌊
I've worked in different parts of the North Sea — from the UK sector to the Dutch sector, and even working out of Denmark.
So when I say I'm heading offshore, there's not always one answer to “where?” 😂
At the minute I'm back on this side of the North Sea, but come November I'll be off somewhere different again.
It's definitely not your average commute. 🤣
Just another little glimpse into the life behind The Soulful Glow. 🤍

Back offshore again... 🌊
A slightly different view from The Soulful Glow today. 🤣
For anyone new around here, when I'm not working on The Soulful Glow, this is the other side of my life.
I work offshore, so life tends to be a bit of a mixture of 12-hour shifts, steel, sea... and apparently taking pictures of the flare because the sky looks pretty. 😂
The flare burns off excess gas — and yes, I did stand looking at it thinking there was probably some sort of deep metaphor in there about releasing what we don't need anymore...
But I'll behave. 🤣
Sometimes a picture can just be a picture.
Just thought I'd share a little glimpse of where I disappear to between being home. 🤍

You can't change a pattern you haven't noticed yet. 🤍
So much of what we do can happen on autopilot.
How we react.
What we tolerate.
The way we speak to ourselves.
How quickly we put everyone else before us.
The things we overthink again and again.
And sometimes we've been doing it for so long, we don't even realise it's a pattern.
That's why becoming more aware of yourself matters.
Not so you can judge yourself.
Not so you can pick yourself apart.
And definitely not so you have another thing to get "right".
Simply so you can begin to notice.
Why did that affect me so much?
Why do I always respond that way?
What am I actually feeling right now?
What do I need?
Because when you start noticing yourself, you give yourself something you didn't have when you were running on autopilot...
A choice. 🤍
And sometimes, that's where change begins.
One small moment of awareness at a time. 🌿

Sometimes the biggest shift starts with simply noticing. 🤍
Noticing the way you speak to yourself.
Noticing when you're saying yes when you really want to say no.
Noticing when you're overthinking something that's already happened.
Noticing when you're putting everyone else's needs before your own.
Noticing when you're exhausted... but still telling yourself to keep going.
We can live in certain patterns for so long that they start to feel normal.
Sometimes we don't even realise we're doing them.
That's why becoming more aware of yourself can be such an important part of healing.
Not so you can judge yourself for what you notice.
Not so you can pick yourself apart.
But because when you begin to recognise your own patterns, you give yourself the opportunity to choose something different.
And sometimes grounding, slowing down, or simply being present for a few minutes gives us enough space to actually notice what's going on inside us.
You don't have to change everything at once.
Sometimes awareness is enough for today. 🤍

There’s something about being outside that can help us come back to ourselves. 🌿
When life feels busy, our minds can be even busier.
Thinking.
Planning.
Worrying.
Replaying conversations.
Thinking about what needs doing next.
Sometimes we don’t even realise how much time we’re spending in our heads.
And that’s where something as simple as connecting with the Earth can help.
Stand on the grass.
Walk along the beach.
Sit against a tree.
Feel the ground underneath you.
Notice the air.
The sounds.
The temperature.
What you can see around you.
It gives your mind somewhere else to go.
Not into the past.
Not into what might happen next.
Just here.
Right now. 🌍
Sometimes coming back down to Earth really can mean exactly that. 🤍
