Great time updating my Knowles and skills with all things women’s health. Perimenopause & menopause. Will be bringing all the latest knowledge back to my peri & menopause clinics with fee drop in sessions once a month for those that have any questions.

Is one treatment ever really enough? Sometimes, yes, but most of the time you will get the best results from a little course of sessions spaced a few weeks apart. I would always rather tell you that at the start than have you staring in the mirror after one visit thinking, why has nothing happened. Bodies take time to respond, and your skin is allowed to be a slow learner. Being upfront means you can set realistic expectations and then actually enjoy the process instead of counting the days. It also helps me plan properly with you, so we are aiming for something achievable and natural on your face, not a wish list. Most of my happiest clients are the ones who understood the timeline from day one. If you want the full picture, including the bits other people tend to skip, pop me a message and we can book you in for a consultation.

Things nurses can discuss while eating. I swear our stomachs come with a clinical sealant. Healthcare gives you a very particular relationship with the human body, what makes everybody else go pale becomes Tuesday lunchtime. I have had genuinely cheerful chats over a sandwich that would make my friends push their plates away and question my life choices. It is partly coping, partly curiosity, and partly the fact you cannot unsee what you have seen. The funniest bit is how quickly you learn who is a fellow healthcare person by how unbothered they look mid story. If you are a nurse, tag your mate who could ruin a civilian’s lunch in under 30 seconds. And if you ever sit in my clinic chair and wonder why I stay calm talking about bruising, swelling, or healing, this is exactly why. Message me if you are curious about what to expect after treatment, I will tell you without the dramatics.

Why do we keep filling lines when the skin itself is asking for help? As we get older, our skin loses some of its natural support, and chasing every little crease can start to feel like patching a leaky roof one drip at a time. I see it all the time in clinic, people who have had lots of tiny tweaks but still feel like their skin looks a bit tired. Sculptra works differently because I am looking at overall skin quality and support across an area, rather than treating each line like a separate problem. It is a gradual approach, so if you want instant changes by next weekend, this will probably annoy you. It also is not right for everyone, which is why I will always assess properly and talk you through what is sensible for your face and your budget. If this has made you curious, pop me a message or book in and let me have a proper look before you decide anything.

There comes an age when you stop asking, “What will people think?” and start asking the far more useful question, “What do I want?” I see it all the time in clinic, that little shift where someone walks in feeling like they need permission, then realises they actually get to choose. It can feel genuinely terrifying the first time you ask it properly, especially if you have spent years keeping everyone else comfortable. Then, oddly quickly, it starts to feel like relief. My favourite appointments are the ones where we talk it through like two humans, have a proper laugh, and land on something that feels like you. Sometimes that is treatment, sometimes it is timing, sometimes it is a firm no, and I love that too. If you are ready to have that conversation, message me and we will chat through your options with zero pressure.

She was not trying to turn back time. She just decided the next chapter deserved as much attention as all the ones that came before it. I see this all the time in clinic, people who have done a lot for everyone else and then realise they have been leaving themselves till last. You do not owe your younger self anything, and you definitely do not need to chase a photo from ten years ago. You might just owe your current self a bit of proper care, in a way that still looks like you on your best day. That can be skin health, a tweak, a refresh, or simply a plan that feels realistic and kind. If your next chapter is due some attention, message me and we will have a chat about it. Kettle is always on.

Our childhood would probably be illegal now, and honestly, I get it. Cars had ashtrays, playgrounds were basically concrete with vibes, and half the time nobody knew where we were until tea. Somehow our parents called it “playing out” and we all just cracked on. I still catch myself laughing at what we thought was normal, then wincing because my knees remember every single jump off the climbing frame. If you are a fellow Gen Xer, you will know the exact mix of pride and mild concern I am talking about. Tag the mate who genuinely does not know how we survived. And if you want to know what I am seeing in clinic lately that screams “raised in the 80s”, message me and I will tell you.

Things I absolutely do not miss about being 25.
Yes, my collagen was thriving, but my judgement was doing interpretive dance in the corner.
I love a good laugh line because it usually comes with better boundaries and an earlier bedtime.
These days I am far more interested in looking like me on a really good week than chasing my old face.
In clinic, most of my patients say the same thing, they want to look fresher, not “done”.
If you are noticing lines and thinking, is this character or just tiredness, I get it.
Tag the woman who would not be 25 again for all the collagen in Britain.
If any of this sounds like you, drop me a message and we can chat through what would actually make you feel more like yourself.
