✨ Brow Lamination – just look at the difference each step makes! ✨

Not to brag but I used to have AMAZING brows. 😂💁🏻‍♀️ Thick, full and somehow they even survived the overplucking era of the noughties! 🙈

But now…. throw in ageing, hormones and chronic illness and my once great brows have taken a bit of a battering! They’re thinner, sparser and definitely not what they used to be! 😭

And that’s why brow lamination is my absolute saviour! 🙌🏼

It’s amazing how much difference a little lifting, shaping and tinting can make. Giving the appearance of fuller, fluffier, more defined brows without having to spend ages filling them in every morning.

Sometimes it’s the little things that help us feel a bit more like ourselves again. 🤎

✨ Brow Lamination, Tint & Wax – £25

I’ve shed so many versions of myself over the years.

Every single time, it’s felt uncomfortable.

Because even when you know you’re changing for the better, there can still be grief in letting go of who you used to be.

The version of you who lived a certain life.
Who wanted different things.
Who had different priorities.
Who tolerated things you wouldn’t tolerate now.
Who probably actually did exactly what she needed to do to get you here.

We talk so much about growth as though it’s this beautiful, exciting process. And it is.
But we don’t talk enough about the letting go and the grief that has to happen alongside it.

A caterpillar can’t become a butterfly while desperately trying to hold onto its life as a caterpillar. 🦋

We can’t become the next version of ourselves while trying to keep one foot firmly planted in an identity we’ve already outgrown.

That doesn’t mean the old version of you was wrong.
You don’t have to hate her.
You don’t have to be embarrassed by her.
And you certainly don’t have to erase her.
She got you here!

You can be grateful for who you were and still give yourself permission to let go and become someone different.

I’ve been so many different versions of me. Some I loved. Some I didn’t particularly like. Some I barely recognise anymore!

But I needed every one of them to become the woman I am now.

And I know she won’t be the final version either. 🤎

🌿 Monday Mantra 🌿

“Not everything that feels selfish is selfish.”

When you’re used to people pleasing and putting everybody else first, choosing yourself can feel wrong - even when it’s healthy.

It is okay to:

🌿 Say no without producing a full legal defence 😂
🌿 Change plans because you simply do not have the capacity
🌿 Not reply immediately
🌿 Choose rest over productivity
🌿 Spend money/time/energy on yourself
🌿 Disappoint someone rather than completely abandoning your own needs

Guilt isn’t always proof you’ve done something wrong. Sometimes it’s just proof your nervous system recognises that you’ve done something differently.

🍂 October — autumn is in full swing.

Let the seasons give you permission to live as the seasons intend. Autumn feels like permission to let things go.

Permission to slow down. To turn inward. To change your mind. To release what no longer serves you, or simply doesn’t fit anymore.

Nature doesn’t fight to stay in summer mode.

The trees don’t desperately cling to every leaf. They let go of what they no longer need and begin saving their energy for the winter ahead.

Animals don’t desperately try to maintain the same pace they kept all summer either. They slow down. They prepare. They respond to the changing light, temperature and world around them.

And I REALLY think we can learn something from that.

Maybe we need to go back to some of our natural instincts and start living with the seasons instead of constantly fighting against them.

What are you holding onto simply because you’ve carried it for so long?

An expectation of yourself?
A commitment that no longer feels right?
The need to be everything to everybody, all of the time?
A version of yourself that doesn’t quite fit anymore?

You don’t need to start something new right now. You don’t need to reinvent yourself. That’s what spring is for. 🌱

For now, just live with autumn.

Start letting go. Slow the pace. Turn inward a little. Make your world cosier. Conserve some of your energy and prepare yourself gently for the season ahead.

Learning to live more seasonally has had such a huge impact on my mental health over the last few years. Instead of spending autumn dreading the darker, colder months, I’ve learned to embrace what each season is actually asking of me. And I’m so much happier and more content because of it.

Even in January. And January has approximately 835 days. 😂

I’ve been quiet…..

Not because I’ve disappeared or stopped working, but because there’s been a lot happening in the background, with a Fibromyalgia flare happening and I only have so many spoons. They have to be used wisely!!

Social media will never be my priority when those spoons are needed elsewhere. I’m still here. I’m still working. I’m still managing life with chronic illness..

We’ve also made a pretty big decision recently . after October half term, my youngest won’t be going back to school. We’re deregistering her and beginning our home education journey. 🥹

So behind the scenes I’ve been putting my energy into planning, preparing and getting everything ready for that transition. It’s a big change, but we are so excited about it.

Now that things are starting to settle into place, I’m hoping to get back to sharing more of the mindset work, tips and little reminders that Empowered Within was created for.

Starting with this one:

You only have so many spoons. Stop breaking them in half trying to be everything to everybody, all of the time. 🥄
You don’t have to do ALL of the things.

🌿 It’s okay to let something sit for a while because your energy is needed elsewhere.

🌿 It’s okay to decide that something which used to be a priority isn’t one right now.

🌿 And it’s okay to build your life around the capacity you actually have, rather than constantly pushing yourself to meet the capacity you think you should have.

I’m still learning how to live a full life with a chronic illness and fewer spoons. And yes, I’m now adding educating my child to the mix. 😂 But I also know that, for us, home education will use significantly fewer spoons than constantly battling a system that isn’t working for her and then using whatever I have left to help her recover from the impact of each school day. 🫠

Protecting your energy is about choosing where your energy is actually worth spending. 🤍

✨ MONDAY MANTRA ✨

Progress, not perfection.

You don’t need to get everything right all of the time to be moving forward.

We can put so much pressure on ourselves to do things perfectly that sometimes we end up doing nothing useful at all.

The perfect routine.
The perfect diet.
The perfect morning.
The perfect version of ourselves.

But it’s not realistic. Nothing in life is perfect.

Some days you’ll smash it. Some days you’ll manage the bare minimum. Some days the progress might simply be choosing to try again tomorrow.

It all still counts. 🌿

This week, instead of asking yourself “Am I doing this perfectly?” Or “Am I doing enough?” try asking:

“Am I moving in the direction I want to go?”

Small steps. Keep going.

Progress, not perfection. 💗

Find more enjoyment in the little things. 🌿

A lovely friend gave me this idea — when you’re out for a walk or just out and about, pick a colour and see how many interesting things you can spot and take photos of.

It makes you really notice the little things around you without even trying. You’re suddenly looking properly, rather than just walking past everything.

We tried it yesterday on a walk in the middle of absolutely nowhere, where finding one colour was actually quite difficult 🤣 So instead, we decided to try and find the rainbow.

And honestly, it’s amazing how much more we noticed because we were looking so closely. We found a frog, a newt, a millipede and all sorts of different beetles and creepy crawlies we didn’t even know the names of.

Things we probably would have walked straight past if we hadn’t been looking so hard.

It’s such a simple little thing, but it makes a walk feel like an adventure — especially with kids.

Give it a go next time you’re out and see what you find. 🌈🍃

Is your skin feeling the effects of the change in weather? 🍂

A facial massage could be just what you need.

As the seasons change, your skin can sometimes feel a little different. Drier, duller, puffier or just in need of a little extra TLC.

Facial massage offers more than just a relaxing experience?

✨ A natural-looking glow

Your blood delivers oxygen and nutrients to your skin cells. Facial massage encourages circulation, helping to bring a fresh, healthy-looking glow to your complexion.

💧 Less puffiness, fresher-looking skin

Your lymphatic system helps remove waste and balance fluid within the body. Gentle facial massage can support lymphatic drainage, helping to reduce the appearance of puffiness and leave your skin looking fresher and more refreshed.

😌 Release tension you didn’t realise you were holding

We often think about stress sitting in our shoulders and neck, but our jaw and forehead can hold tension too. You might not even notice how much you’re holding until it finally starts to release. Facial massage can help relax those areas, leaving you feeling calmer, lighter and more at ease.

✨ Supporting your skin as it ages

Collagen helps give our skin structure, firmness and elasticity. As we age, our natural collagen production gradually declines. Facial massage may help support collagen production, contributing to a smoother, more refreshed-looking complexion and helping reduce the appearance of fine lines with regular massages.

Sometimes, your skin just needs a little refresh. 🤍

If your skin is feeling dull, puffy or in need of a refresh, a facial massage could be just what you need.

Book your 30-minute facial for just £25.

Affordable self-care, because you deserve it. 🤍

We run on autopilot so much of the time that we forget to check in with how we’re feeling. We carry on, get things done and push emotions aside because there’s always something else to do.

But those feelings don’t just disappear. When we don’t give ourselves time to process them, they can build up and eventually show up as burnout, resentment, withdrawal or a full-blown volcanic eruption. 🌋😂

So today, take a moment to check in with yourself.

On the guinea pig scale, where are you sitting today? 🐹

Are you feeling calm and content, or are you one tiny inconvenience away from launching yourself into the sun?

And more importantly, what do you need? A little rest? Some fresh air? A cry? A chat? A boundary? Five minutes where nobody needs anything from you?

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely overwhelmed to look after yourself.

Check in. Notice what’s there. Give yourself permission to feel it. How can you help yourself feel a little better today? 🤍
