Chelsea Tantum, who started using sunbeds at 15 and competed with her teenage friends for the best tan, has died of cancer aged 30. 💔

Chelsea was diagnosed with stage 3C melanoma skin cancer when she was 28 years old.

The disease had already spread to her spine, ribs, pelvis, femurs, lungs, liver, spleen, and breast. ‼️

Just before turning 30, she received the devastating news that the cancer had reached her brain, leaving her with stage 4 cancer.

She admitted that as a teenager she would compete with her friends to get the darkest tan.

Despite being under 18, she used sunbeds frequently for a decade without ever being asked for age identification. ☀️

While fighting the illness from a wheelchair, Chelsea campaigned relentlessly for mandatory ID checks on sunbed usage to protect others.

The government introduced mandatory ID checks for sunbed users in May this year following public calls for change.

She also raised more than £4,000 for the charity Melanoma Focus during her treatment. ❤️

Chelsea died on September 30 at the age of 30.

Her close friend Claire Louise said: "I genuinely don't know anyone else who could have carried it all with the dignity, grace and strength that you did."

"30 years was nowhere near enough, Chelsea."

Her funeral will take place on October 23 at Albion Church in Ashton, followed by a committal at Dukinfield Crematorium.
