And just like that entries are open for the whw_race 2027. What a wonderful race this is, following in my mum’s footsteps I had the privilege of taking part this year. Due to being injured however my auld maw was crewing and not able to run along side me towards the iconic finish line….did have my other half though! Met some amazing people along the way. What a cracking morning doing the Clachnaben Glen Dye Circular. One of my favourite local hills to plod around. Met a lovely couple from Montrose, lots of families out enjoying the late September sunshine. So lucky to have this on our doorstep. Training has become a chore lately and lots of ups and downs but getting out onto the trails is like a wee reset. This time last year I was dragging myself over the Ochil Hills Wee Run Events and in 2 weeks I’ll be tackling the Bennachie Trail Race CGM Ultra lifestyle, sports & wellbeing clinic

A few of my clients have asked how my recovery has been since completing the West Highland Way Race, so here’s a little update...

The first couple of days my legs were definitely sore, and I had very little appetite. I also had a post-race sports massage, kept moving as much as possible (despite a long-haul flight!), and being on holiday meant we were walking everywhere. I really think that gentle movement helped my recovery more than I expected.

I waited almost 3 weeks before my first run, thinking I’d feel great... my legs had other ideas and felt really heavy! Fast forward to today almost 4 weeks post-race, and I’ve just finished a 6-mile run feeling pretty good. It finally feels like the legs are coming back.

Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all, but for me, staying mobile, getting a post-race massage, and giving my body time have all played a big part.

After you've tackled the legendary Cairn o' Mount climb, questioned your life choices on the way up, and admired the views once you've remembered how to breathe again, I'll be there to help soothe those tired legs. 🦵💪
