WHY ISN’T YOUR BLONDE STAYING BLONDE? 🤍

If your blonde looks fresh when you leave the salon but starts looking warmer, duller or less vibrant a few weeks later, there’s usually more to it than simply “the toner has faded” 👇🏼

• 1. Your toner naturally fades!
A toner is designed to refine and neutralise the blonde, not permanently change the underlying pigment. Washing, heat, UV exposure and everyday wear will gradually cause it to fade.

• 2. You’re either not using purple shampoo or you’re overusing it!
Purple shampoo can help neutralise unwanted yellow tones because purple sits opposite yellow on the colour wheel, BUT it doesn’t actually make your hair lighter & using it too frequently can leave blonde looking dull, flat or slightly purple. It should be used as part of a personalised maintenance routine, not every wash.

• 3. Hard water & mineral build-up!
Minerals in your water can accumulate on the hair, particularly on porous blonde hair. This can make your blonde look dull, darker or warmer & can affect how your colour behaves. This is why regular removal of build-up can be so important.

• 4. Heat & UV exposure!
High heat and UV exposure can contribute to colour fading and oxidation, while excessive heat can also increase damage and porosity. The more compromised the hair becomes, the harder it can be to maintain a clean, glossy blonde.

• 5. Your hair’s porosity & your home care!
Blonde hair is often more porous because of the chemical process used to create it. Porous hair can lose colour molecules more quickly and may be more susceptible to environmental factors. The right shampoo, conditioner, mask, heat protection and overall routine can make a HUGE difference.

Maintaining your blonde isn’t just about coming back for another toner. Your colour history, hair condition, porosity, water quality, products and lifestyle all need to be considered when creating a maintenance plan.

A beautiful blonde is created in the salon, but maintained at home🤍
