“LOVE THE SWISH” - Julie is still getting used to her waves after years of straightening.
Julie always thought she just had frizzy hair but is now realising it was just her waves needing hydration and a layered cut.
She booked in as much to learn how to look after her natural hair and was amazed at the difference a DevaCut, wash and style made. “It feels all swishy now,” she said.

CURL REFRESH - it had been nearly a year since Charlene’s last cut.
Here’s what happened at her Curl Confidence appointment:
- We discussed how she had been getting on with her curls at home and what her goals were now. Most importantly how much length did she want to lose and what shape she was looking for.
- a dry curl by curl cut, cutting each curl where it lives in relation to others. No thinning scissors, razoring or sliding the scissors down her curls.
- a wash and style using a deep treatment and a styling gel by Bouclème
- diffuse drying to help create definition and volume.

Wow - 11 years ago today I took that first step in a career change from admin to learning hairdressing.
The passion to help others with their curly hair is what drove me on and kept me going through many challenges.
My motto, which I still look at on my salon wall every day, was “Imagine with all your mind - believe with all your heart - achieve with all your might”.
This kept me going on an education path which just did not recognise curly hair as being any different to straight hair.
I knew I had to get through it to be able to move on to more specialist training and the only place then was DevaCurl in New York.
Luckily now the hairdressing industry has woken up to the needs of curly hair and I am pleased that I was one of those at the forefront highlighting the need for curly hair training.
It could still be better - most curl training now involves manipulating your curls - running through grooved brushes and finger coiling.
Curly hair knows what to do if you let it - at Curl Confidence I work with your curls to celebrate them naturally.
Thank you to all my clients who have supported me, some still with me from those early days when I was mobile.
