These didn’t need replacing. They just needed a little love. 💗
Two necklaces came into the studio looking a little worse for wear, but both still had plenty of life left in them.
One needed a new clasp and a proper clean. The other is silver plated, so it needed a much gentler clean to bring it back to life without damaging the finish.
And I think the customer’s reaction says it all…
“Wow it looks so much better and I can’t wait to wear these on holiday 😁”
There’s something really satisfying about taking jewellery that’s been sitting unworn and making it wearable again.
Sometimes you don’t need something new. You just need to show a little love to what you already have. 💗

Okay, I get it. Permanent Jewellery sounds a little dramatic.
But once you’ve worn it, you kind of get why people become obsessed.
No clasp. No remembering to put it on. No Jewellery drawer full of pieces you love but somehow never wear.
Instead, we choose your chain, fit it perfectly to you and weld it together, creating something that’s yours.
And sometimes it means ever more than that.
A friendship. A birthday. A person. A moment. Or simply something you chose just for yourself.
That’s what I love about Welded Bonds. It’s jewellery, yes, but it’s your jewellery.

There's a reason I don't make hundreds of the same earrings.
And yes, it would probably be a much more efficient way to run a jewellery business.
But Created By Lau has never been about efficiency.
I love experimenting. Resin one day, polymer clay the next. Tassels, textiles, real flowers, colour, glitter... sometimes an idea works beautifully and sometimes it absolutely does not.
That's part of making things by hand.
After more than 20 years working in fashion retail buying, I'd seen plenty of products designed to appeal to as many people as possible.
When I started Created By Lau, I wanted to do the opposite.
Small batches. One offs. Pieces with personality. Jewellery you don't see on everyone else.
It means some designs might only ever exist once. Others get a tiny run. And when they're gone they're usually gone.
Probably not the most efficient business model.
But definitely a much more interesting one!

Summer 2026. A rating. By me.
I wasn't sure I was going to share any of this.
This summer has been a bit of everything, if I'm honest. Grief. Doubt. Creativity. Markets. The studio chaos slowly turning into something beautiful. Time with the people I love most. And plenty of moments that reminded me why I started doing this in the first place.
There have been days when I've genuinely questioned whether I should carry on. Watching small businesses close their doors, having disappointing markets and wondering if I'm fighting for something that just isn't working.
But then I make something new and remember how much I bloody love creating.
Or I get to be part of someone's story through Welded Bonds and remember that what I do is about so much more than just jewellery.
And then there are the little signs that seem to show up exactly when I need them. 🪶
So, Summer 2026...
Not perfect. Not easy. But full of love, creativity, memories and reminders to keep going.
And honestly? I think that's a pretty good rating. 💖
Here's to whatever September has in store.
Six weeks is a long time in Instagram years.
I’m not going to do a whole speech about it; the only thing more awkward than disappearing is coming back and making it a whole thing, so let’s just… not.
Here is what I can tell you: I’ve been making things. New pieces have been keeping the bench busy, and Welded Bonds bookings are open, and I have really missed it.
September is going to look different. More from the bench, more of the process, more of the stuff I don’t usually show. Starting this week.
Right. Was anyone actually worried, or is it just me who makes it weird?

2026 so far? Honestly it's been a juggling act.
New job. Growing competition. Quiet bookings. Inconsistent content. Slow events.
But also handmade sales are picking back up. Etsy orders after YEARS of silence. A community of people who keep showing up for me even when I'm not showing up enough for them.
So yeah. 4/10. And I'm okay saying that out loud.
