🚨 More than £2 million lost to banking fraud in Hertfordshire 🚨

Fraudsters stole more than £2 million from Hertfordshire victims in 2026 by exploiting bank and credit card details. There were 661 reports of people having their accounts compromised.

Criminals use a range of tactics to access your money, from stealing card details online to targeting people at cash machines. Some fraudsters watch PIN entries, distract victims, or even fit devices to ATMs to capture cards.

• Stand close to the machine
• Shield the keypad with your hand and body
• Avoid cash machines where people are loitering
• If something looks unusual or tampered with, don't use it

• Don't click links in unsolicited emails or social media offering deals
• Use a search engine or saved bookmarks to access websites
• Consider using PayPal or a credit card for added fraud protection
