Just a little reminder that students and staff go on academic break from this Friday, 8th October, and return Monday 26th October. We will shortly be posting up the Hairdressing services and Beauty treatments we have available for booking on return from academic break. Please note that services and treatments are subject to availability depending on course timetables so times and days are limited. Please bear with us as students are still learning and lecturers are in the process of confirming client session dates and times. We hope to have a lot more in the coming weeks.

We would also like to make our clients aware that we have two Salon Assistant Student Interns joining us this academic year who will be supporting our busy reception. I'm sure you will all make them feel welcome when you see them in The Retreat on a Monday, Thursday and Friday.

A big thank you to Bannatynes Perth for arranging a tour of the Health Club and salon and complimentary use of the facilities. This was a fantastic opportunity for the HNC Beauty Therapy students to experience a realistic industry sector environment and have the opportunity to discuss recruitment opportunities with staff. Thank you to Rachel and Gemma for your time, we all agree it was a great Monday and start to the week.

It's been a busy few days at The Retreat for our students. We have had some fantastic industry enrichment activities taking place both on and off campus. A big thank you to Lesley McAteer from Ellison's who delivered a Kaeso product knowledge workshop to the NC Beauty Skills and Pathway to Beauty Skills level 5 students and NPA Beauty and Hairstyling and SFW Higher Beauty pupils. This workshop provided the underpinning knowledge and a broader understanding of the application process when it comes to carrying out a professional facial treatment.

A big hello and welcome to all our students who are joining us this academic year. It has been lovely to see both familiar and new faces on campus the past couple of weeks. We hope you are all settling in and enjoying college life 😊.

We look forward to welcoming our clients back once we have settled into this academic year and once learning and teaching is fully underway. Induction week at UHI Perth and as always it's great to see the students back on campus.

This week the Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing students had the opportunity to meet with local industry employers and sector leading companies as part of their induction. Being part of and experiencing what the industry sector has to offer and understanding the employment opportunities within the sector is key in building relationships and providing wider learning experiences for the students.

It has been great to see the excitement and enthusiasm from the students as they start, or continue, their education journey.

And just like that another academic year is over! All staff and students from 'The Retreat'@ UHI Perth would like to thank all our clients for their amazing support this academic session. Bookings for the Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing salons are now closed for this academic year, but we look forward to seeing you all again when students return in September. We will keep you posted as to when bookings will be open once learning and teaching is fully underway. We cannot thank you all enough for the continued support and encouragement which goes a long way in ensuring our students have a positive and successful experience.

Staff would like to take this opportunity to say very well done to all the students for their hard work this academic year. It’s never easy managing college life and work alongside personal life and commitments. Please take the time to reflect how much you have achieved over the past few months and enjoy some down time to relax over summer. And for those not returning, all the best for the next chapter in life’s journey.

Students and staff have now returned from a well deserved break and are looking forward to seeing clients over the remainder of the academic year. Please note that client sessions will only be open for the next 3-4 weeks as assessments are now coming to an end and students are coming to the end of their course. Please email the salon should you wish to book any treatments. Below are some times/days and services that we are looking for clients/model should anyone be interested in booking in:

Tuesday 12-4 and Friday 9-4

Long and short layer cuts (no restyles)

Full head quasi/demi colour, tone on tone colour that can enhance natural hair, darken slightly, add shine, blend away the first signs of grey, brighten existing highlights or colour. (Skin test required 48 hours prior to service)

We also have some availability this Friday morning 9.15 & 10am for curls and hair ups for ladies day (2 spaces 9.15 and 2 at 10am)

Tuesday morning 9.15 and Wednesday 9.15 or 1pm

Full head bleach
Reducer ( clients who have coloured dark hair and whish to go lighter)

Dear all,

Just a gentle reminder that the salons will be closed for the Easter academic break from tomorrow 3rd April until week beginning 20th April when staff and students return after a well deserved break. There will be no one available to respond to emails or phone calls during this time.

When we return there are some client sessions in which will be looking for clients to support the remainder of student assessments. Client sessions are listed below should you be interested. Please email the salon and we will respond as soon as we can. Please note that there will only be a small number of weeks when we return that client sessions will be running due to the end of the academic year coming around so please book in to avoid disapointment.

Hairdressing services

Available on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. *Please note that depending on the service you require will determine the day we can offer a booking. As always, a skin test and consultation will be required 48 hours prior to any colouring service if you have not been in the salon within the last 6 months.*

Beauty Treatments

Monday morning - massages, facials, basic manicures, some electrotherapy treatments.

Tuesday morning & afternoon - Luxury manicure or pedicure with exfoliation, cuticle work, massage, mask or paraffin wax and heated mitts or boots. Gel polish finish available on request.

Wednesday afternoon - Spa Treatments
Full body Wrap - 90 min Luxury full body exfoliation and wrap with scalp massage or mini facial to smooth, soothe and remineralise.

Hip & Thigh Toning Treatment - 75min luxury leg treatment with foot or scalp massage to tighten, tone and invigorate.

Luxury Back Facial - 75 min heated exfoliation, advanced massage and sumptuous mask to relax or to deep cleanse.

Eyelash Enhancements - Tue 2:15pm and Wed 09:15pm
Eye lash tinting
Classic lash extensions (limited spaces available)
*Please note that patch testing 48 hours before is required before any Eyelash treatment*

Manicure & Pedicure -Friday 2:15pm
