One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that dermaplaning makes your facial hair grow back thicker or darker..

The answer? No.

The hair on your face is called vellus hair (often known as peach fuzz).
It’s naturally soft, fine and light in colour.

The thicker, darker hair found on areas like your scalp, underarms and p***c area is called terminal hair.
Dermaplaning doesn’t change vellus hair into terminal hair.

When your hair grows back after dermaplaning, it can sometimes feel a little different at first because the hair has been cut straight across rather than naturally tapered.
But it isn’t growing back thicker, darker or faster.
