Could red light therapy really make a difference to ageing skin? 🔴✨

You may have seen the growing buzz around red light therapy, but what happens when we put the claims aside and look at the research?

A 2020 study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology investigated whether home-use red and near-infrared light could improve the appearance of photo-aged skin.

And the results were interesting. 🔬

The study involved 24 people with photo-aged skin who used a home-use LED device combining 637 nm red light and 854 nm near-infrared light, twice a week for 8 weeks.

The researchers reported:

✨ Significant improvements in skin elasticity after 6 and 8 weeks
✨ Improvements in skin texture after 8 weeks
✨ Participants reported improvements in the appearance of their skin
✨ No adverse reactions or pain were reported during the study

One interesting point is that the results were seen over several weeks of regular use, rather than overnight. It is a good reminder that when it comes to skincare, consistency can matter. 🌿
