Essence of Beauty

After 25 years, I never thought I would be writing a post like this. 😢

I’ve started and stopped writing these words so many times, because I honestly don’t know how to explain what this moment means to me.

My mum, June, opened the salon in September 2001, and I joined her after leaving school. I was her daughter, learning from her, working alongside her and finding my own way. Eventually, I took over the business myself, and what began with my mum became such a huge part of my life.

But when I look back over those 25 years, I realise the salon has never really been about the business.

It has been about all of you.

So many of you have become far more than customers. You have become friends, and some of you feel like family. We have shared laughter, stories, celebrations and, of course, many tears. You have been there through some of the happiest moments of my life and some of the hardest, and I hope you know how much your support has always meant to me.

Some of you have been sitting in my chair for almost the whole 25 years. Some of you were once my customers’ children and have grown up and become my customers yourselves. Watching that happen has been something incredibly special.

There is so much life within those four walls — countless conversations, cups of teas, laughter, tears and memories that I will carry with me forever.

And now, after 25 years, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to step away from the salon and bring my time there to an end.

From 1st October, the business will be continuing under new ownership.

And there is something rather fitting about who will be taking it forward…

Knowing that makes me feel that the story of the salon is being passed on in a really special way. I truly hope they create as many wonderful memories there as Mum and I did, and as I have done with all of you. I hope you will welcome them and support them as warmly as you have always supported me.

For me, though, saying goodbye is going to be incredibly emotional.

I’m not just saying goodbye to a business. I’m saying goodbye to 25 years of my life.

A chapter that started with my mum, became my own, and was made so incredibly special by every single person who walked through that door.

Please don’t let this be goodbye to the people who have meant so much to me. I really hope we can keep in touch, have a catch-up and share a laugh from time to time. ❤️

When I look back, I know I won’t remember the number of appointments I did or the hours I worked.

I’ll remember you.

I’ll remember the laughter, the shared tears, the stories, the celebrations, the difficult days and all those little moments that became memories without us even realising it.

And when I close that salon door for the last time, I’ll leave with a heart full of gratitude.

Thank you for supporting me.

Thank you for laughing with me and crying with me.

And thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives for 25 incredible years.

The salon may be beginning a new chapter, but the chapter we have shared will always be a part of me.

You will always be part of my story, and I hope a little piece of me will always be part of yours. ❤️
