It’s that time again and this week’s theme comes at a great time. As the sun fades away and the nights get darker this is your reminder that SPF should be an everyday essential step in your skincare routine. Not just when the sun is out ☀️ SPF protects your skin from harmful UV exposure which is known to cause up to 80% of visible skin aging. So keep that SPF (PREFERABLY FACTOR 50) in your routine come rain 🌧️, snow ❄️ or sunshine ☀️

Misconception Monday...
A new series debunking myths in the aesthetics and skincare industry because knowledge is power. Chemical peels are often thought to be an invasive skin procedure causing severe redness, irritation and skin peeling, however this is only the case with very deep chemical peels which are not routinely used. There will be some downtime with a skin peel but this is mostly some redness and dryness which can be soothed with appropriate moisturisers.

The skin barrier is disturbed by a chemical peel however in the majority of cases there is no physical peeling of the skin.

At the skincare suite we use the Medik8 post procedure kit directly after the peel to sooth the skin and keep it hydrated. These kits are available to purchase for myself for a discounted price of £22 for you to continue using after your treatments for optimal results. 💧🤍

More exciting news...
I will be heading back to Derma Institute in the coming weeks for more training, I will soon be offering microneedling, chemical peels, skin booster and polynucleotide injections. On top of this I will be completing their cosmetic dermatology module, to enhance my understanding of your skin and what it truely needs. Bespoke skin care will be coming soon.

The face behind the name…

I thought it was about time I introduced myself and give you a bit of a back story.
My name is Ellie, I am a registered nurse with over 6 years of experience working in an acute inpatient setting at the NNUH. I qualified as a nurse on 2020 during the height of covid after 4 months of working on the Covid ward as part of the emergency Covid workforce to finish my degree.

Above you can see my last day in my UEA stripes and my first in my RN blues. Qualifying during Covid was a whirlwind but it taught me so much. I was lucky enough to get my 1st band 6 deputy sister post just 21 months after graduating at the age of 23. The same month I finally had my graduation ceremony at UEA. This job increased my leadership and confidence but eventually I moved on to another role.

In 2024 I trained in foundation and advanced Botox and dermal filler treatments. I since gained experience and knowledge which brings me to today. After a year of many ups and downs I have decided to leave my NHS role and peruse my aesthetics as a career. This moment feels bitter sweet as I am leaving a part of me behind, but ultimately this is the right decision for me, my body and my family. I will forever be grateful for all of the wonderful people who have helped me to become the strong, independent woman and nurse I am today.
