If your skin feels tired, this is the treatment you need to know about.

Many people describe their skin as looking “tired” when what they are really noticing is a gradual loss of hydration, elasticity and radiance. This is a natural part of the ageing process, as the skin produces less collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid over time. While skincare remains the foundation of healthy skin, some changes occur deeper within the skin where topical products alone have limited effect.

Profhilo is an injectable skin remodelling treatment containing one of the highest concentrations of pure hyaluronic acid available. Unlike dermal filler, it is not designed to add volume or alter facial shape. Instead, it disperses beneath the skin to improve hydration and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, helping to restore skin quality, improve firmness and create a healthier, more luminous appearance over the following weeks.

The best results are achieved in carefully selected patients following a thorough medical consultation. Profhilo is often an excellent option for those who feel their skin has become dull, dehydrated or less resilient but are not looking for a volumising treatment. As with all aesthetic procedures, treatment should be performed by a suitably qualified medical professional, with realistic expectations and an individualised treatment plan.

Before you book HIFU… read this first.

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is often marketed as a non-surgical facelift, but it’s important to have realistic expectations. HIFU works by delivering focused ultrasound energy into the deeper structural layers of the skin, stimulating a wound-healing response that can lead to new collagen production over the following 3–6 months. It is not designed to replicate the results of surgical lifting, and the degree of improvement varies considerably depending on factors such as age, skin quality, the amount of skin laxity and individual healing response.

The best candidates are those with mild to moderate skin laxity who are looking for subtle, natural improvement rather than dramatic lifting. While some people notice an early tightening effect due to collagen contraction, the true results develop gradually and are influenced by your body’s ability to produce collagen. For patients with significant skin laxity, heavy jowls or advanced ageing changes, HIFU alone is unlikely to achieve the outcome they are hoping for, and alternative treatments may be more appropriate.

A thorough consultation should always come before treatment. At The Aesthetic Room, we believe in recommending treatments based on evidence, anatomy and your individual goals—not trends or marketing claims. Sometimes HIFU is an excellent choice, and sometimes another approach, such as injectable treatments, regenerative medicine, energy-based devices or surgical referral, will provide a better result. Honest advice will always achieve a better outcome than unrealistic promises.

Consistency will always outperform complexity.

The most effective skincare routine is not necessarily the one with the greatest number of products, but the one built around ingredients with proven clinical benefit that are used consistently over time. A gentle cleanser helps maintain the skin barrier, an antioxidant vitamin C serum provides protection against oxidative stress and supports collagen production, peptides can help improve skin quality and resilience, and daily broad-spectrum SPF remains the single most important step for preventing premature skin ageing and pigmentation.

Healthy skin is achieved by addressing the biological processes that drive ageing rather than simply treating the visible signs. Medical-grade skincare is formulated with evidence-based concentrations of active ingredients and delivery systems designed to maximise efficacy while respecting the integrity of the skin barrier. This is why a carefully selected routine often delivers more meaningful, long-term improvements than constantly changing products in search of a quick fix.

Every skin is different, and the most appropriate routine should reflect your individual concerns, lifestyle and treatment goals. Whether your priority is pigmentation, acne, rosacea, fine lines or improving overall skin quality, investing in the right daily skincare provides the foundation upon which all in-clinic treatments achieve their best results.

Microneedling myths…

Microneedling is one of the most evidence-based treatments available for improving skin quality, yet it is often surrounded by misconceptions. One of the most common myths is that deeper treatments always produce better results. In reality, treatment depth should be tailored to the concern being treated and the anatomical area. Excessively aggressive microneedling does not necessarily improve outcomes and can increase inflammation, prolong recovery and, in some cases, increase the risk of unwanted pigmentation or scarring.

Another misconception is that microneedling permanently thins the skin. The opposite is true when it is performed correctly. Controlled micro-injury stimulates the skin’s natural wound-healing response, encouraging the production of new collagen and elastin over time. This gradual remodelling process can improve skin texture, soften acne scarring, reduce the appearance of fine lines and enhance overall skin quality. Results develop progressively over a series of treatments rather than overnight.

Finally, not all microneedling treatments are equal. Device quality, needle depth, treatment technique, patient selection and appropriate aftercare all play a significant role in the final outcome. A thorough consultation, realistic expectations and a personalised treatment plan will always achieve better long-term results than chasing the deepest or most aggressive treatment possible. As with any medical aesthetic procedure, the safest and most effective results come from evidence-based practice rather than social media myths.

What I tell my clients when they ask for glowing skin…

Everyone wants glowing skin, but it’s important to understand what actually creates it. Healthy skin starts with a well-functioning skin barrier, consistent daily skincare and protection from UV damage. However, in-clinic treatments can significantly enhance skin quality when they’re chosen for the right reasons. Treatments such as Profhilo® can improve skin hydration and elasticity by stimulating collagen and elastin production, whilst carefully selected skin boosters, chemical peels and collagen induction therapies can all contribute to a brighter, healthier complexion.

For clients wanting an immediate radiance boost, treatments such as our Glass Skin Facial can leave the skin looking smoother, more hydrated and noticeably more luminous. This works by combining carefully selected technologies and active ingredients to optimise hydration, gently refine the skin’s surface and enhance light reflection. Whilst the results are often visible immediately, maintaining that glow requires ongoing skin health rather than relying solely on occasional treatments.

When clients ask me how to achieve glowing skin, my answer is that there isn’t one single solution. The best results come from combining evidence-based skincare with treatments that address your individual concerns. Whether that’s medical-grade skincare, Profhilo®, microneedling, chemical peels or regular hydrating facials, the goal should always be healthier skin first. When the skin is functioning optimally, a natural glow is simply the result.
