Offering a compassionate, ethical and balanced approach to the field of aesthetics.

07/10/2026

This gorgeous patient came for a consultation which subsequently led her to later book in for a lip enhancement.
She had been recommended to my service from another patient.

Here are a few key points why subtlety matters in medical aesthetics:-

• Enhancement, not transformation — the aim is to enhance what is already there, not change someone’s identity.

• Balance matters — lips should complement the individual’s facial proportions rather than follow a trend or a “one size fits all” shape.

• Less is often more — small, considered amounts can create beautiful results without looking obvious or overdone.

• Respect the anatomy — understanding the natural structures of the lips is essential for achieving a safe and harmonious result.

• Avoiding overfilling — too much product can distort natural proportions and, over time, contribute to an unnatural appearance.

• Think long term — good aesthetics isn’t just about how something looks immediately after treatment; it’s about how it evolves over time.

For me, the best lip enhancement is often the one where people simply think you look fresh, balanced and beautiful — without knowing why.

Subtle. Considered. Individual.
That will always be my approach in aesthetics.

The Annual British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses Autumn conference.

Attending this Conference was a great reminder of why lifelong learning is such an important part of nursing, promoting the highest of standards of Patient centred care.

As a Registered Nurse Independent Prescriber my role goes far beyond the treatment itself.

Some of the key components that underpin a positive patient experience surround - ( although not exhaustive) are :-

*Patient safety and what underpins this.
*Education and the importance of lifelong learning.
*Effective communication and Informed consent.
*Holistic assessment and good record keeping throughout the patient journey.
*Clinical Knowledge and evidence based care.
*Demonstrating continued professional development.
*Demonstrating compassionate patient centred care.

Healthcare is constantly evolving, so continuing to learn, critically reflect and keep my knowledge up to date is essential. For me, professional development isn’t simply about gaining certificates or ticking boxes; it’s about continually improving the care for each individual patient.

This is why I choose to be a member of the BAMAN.

Lovely to see some familiar faces and meet new people…..

I feel so proud to have been able to run in Megan’s memory. Megan sadly died of Sarcoma at the tender age of 19. She wanted to set up this charity to be able to assist others living with a cancer diagnosis. Megan particularly wanted to raise awareness of young people’s cancer, improve early diagnosis and help young people and families going through treatment. The charity now supports young people aged 11–25 with cancer and their families, as well as supporting cancer research. How incredible is that ❤️
Every mile was worth it . Having worked in Specialist Palliative Care for so long, something like this is very close to my heart .
Huge well done to everyone who ran making a difference for various charities and in memory of so many loved ones .
For anyone who would like to still sponsor this amazing charity, then my link is in the bio. Thank you to everyone who kindly supported me .
Well done to my youngest son who got an incredible time and to his girlfriend who also got an amazing time and to all their friends. We had a great day . Special thanks to the after care from Megans Rose Of Hope .

I have been a bit quiet recently, giving some thought about what I might like to post and what topics. Being patient focused and ethical in my practice, always wanting to do the right thing for each individual patient so I thought a good place to start would be around the consultation.

This is just the beginning of more to come which hopefully will provide a glimpse of my practice within medical aesthetics.

Lip enhancement, using dermal filler to add subtle volume for this patient.

This post demonstrates how volume can be added to define lip shape in keeping with a natural appearance.

Other benefits of lip enhancement are:-

*Restoring volume loss associated with the ageing process.

*Improving lip definition, including the border and cupids bow.

*Promoting better balance and harmony with the rest of the facial features.

*Hydrating the lips from within, helping them appear smoother and softer.

*Improving symmetry where one lip or one side is naturally less full.

*Softening the appearance of fine lines around the mouth.

Most importantly, this treatment can improve confidence and increase a self of wellbeing by enhancing features patients already like, rather than changing their appearance. A pleasing aesthetic outcome for this patient.

Thank you to this patient for her consent to post.

Every lip enhancement is individually tailored following a comprehensive consultation, ensuring the treatment complements your natural features and achieves results that are balanced, and proportionate.

This patient is in her late sixties and wanted to improve some aspects of lower face ageing.

A pleasing outcome which demonstrates a softening of marionette lines for a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Improvement is noted in lower-face support and contour.

A reduction in the appearance of fine lines and creases around the mouth.

A natural looking rejuvenation while preserving facial expression and movement.

Treatment: Belatero Soft from the Merz range.
Area treated: Lower face and perioral region

Subtle changes can make a meaningful difference—restoring support, softening lines, and maintaining a naturally refreshed appearance.

Thank you to this lovely patient for her consent to post
