Trust me, I know. Last year I was trying to run a business, bring up my girls and juggle everything in between. I kept thinking I could push through it all and rest later.

I was dealing with recurring eye abrasions, inflammation issues and flare-ups. I was even hospitalised. When the specialist told me it was down to stress, I was actually really mad. Stress? I’m not stressed at all.

But looking back a year later… wow. I was shaking. I wasn’t sleeping. I was there for everyone else, but not for the woman looking back at me in the mirror. I’d been so busy getting through each day that I hadn’t realised how much I was carrying.

This year I’ve only had one flare-up, and I feel like I’ve finally practised what I preach.

Because stress keeps score.

You can tell yourself you’re fine, keep saying yes, keep giving everyone the little bit you have left. But you can’t run on empty forever and expect your body to stay quiet.

That’s why I see massage as a spiritual practice. It gives you space to be still, listen to what you’ve been carrying and let yourself be cared for. The touch, the quiet, the chance to breathe again…massage is medicine here, for your mind, body and soul. 🤍
