One of my most requested bridal looks, and for that reason, one I knew I wanted to explore at A Study in Bridal.
What looks effortless is often the result of a lot of considered decisions - knowing where to create definition, where to introduce colour, where coverage is actually needed and, perhaps most importantly, when to stop.
This is so much of what I wanted to explore with the artists at The Residence. Not simply how to recreate a look, but how to look at the face in front of you, understand what it needs and make choices with intention.
Because while this may be a look so many of my brides come to me for, the formula is never exactly the same.
Different face. Different features. Different skin. Different bride.
The artistry is in knowing how to adapt it.

A STUDY IN BRIDAL
20.06.26
A day dedicated to artistry, education and community - but one that meant so much more to me than that.
Not only did I get to host the very first A Study in Bridal, I also opened the doors to my own makeup education space THE RESIDENCE, something I have dreamed about for such a long time. Somehow, everything came together exactly when it was meant to. Divine timing is very, very real.
I don’t think I’ll ever quite have the words to describe how magical this day felt, or how grateful I am to every person who played a part in making it what it was.
To the four incredible artists who trusted me with a day of their journey - thank you. Watching you learn, create, ask questions, push yourselves and pour so much into your artistry was incredibly special. I feel genuinely honoured to have shared this experience with you, and I am so proud of you all. This industry has so much waiting for you.
To Emma (Emma McWhirter | Wedding Content Creator), you were the glue that held this entire day together. Every little thing you did, every moment you stepped in without being asked, and the way you supported me throughout it all will never, ever be forgotten. You are a true bestie in every sense of the word, and I adore you beyond belief.
To Karolina (Karolina Kotkiewicz | Women Portraits & Maternity), thank you for so generously sharing your beautiful studio with us and creating such a gorgeous space for the artists and models. You are unbelievably talented at what you do, and I’m so grateful you were part of this day.
To our beautiful models, thank you for giving us your time, trusting us with your faces and being such a lovely part of the day. You brought our artistry to life so beautifully, and we’re so grateful to each of you.
There have been so many moments where this was simply an idea in my head. To stand in the room and see it happening around me was something I’ll never forget.
A Study in Bridal was the first chapter.
The Residence is now open.
And I have a feeling this is going to be something very special.
With love,
Melissa x

A STUDY IN BRIDAL - 20.09.26
There comes a point in your artistry where it becomes about more than learning another technique.
It becomes about refinement. Understanding what feels like you. Creating with greater intention. And finding alignment between the work you’re creating, the artist you’re becoming and the career you want to build.
This is the heart behind A Study in Bridal.
An intimate, full-day experience for just four makeup artists, bringing together bridal artistry, creative development and personal progression.
Think masterclass, workshop, mentorship, community and portfolio building - all in one considered day.
I’ll take you through my approach to bridal from beginning to end, sharing the techniques, products, choices and the why behind my artistry.
Then, the focus turns to you.
Through guided hands-on artistry and individual refinement, we’ll explore your creative eye, signature style and how to create with the client and career you want in mind.
We’ll also delve into destination bridal, from positioning yourself for this kind of work to the realities of taking your artistry beyond home.
Your finished work will be professionally captured, with content created throughout the day to take forward into your portfolio.
But this experience is about more than what you create.
It’s about leaving with renewed inspiration, confidence in what sets you apart, clarity in your direction and a stronger sense of alignment between your artistry and your ambitions.
