EXTENSION AFTERCARE & WHY IT MATTERS ✨

I recently had a client visit the salon looking for help with a significant amount of matting in her hair. The extensions had not been fitted by me, but I was happy to assess the hair and carefully work through and remove the matting as safely as possible.

Situations like this are a good reminder that extensions require consistent care, professional maintenance and the correct homecare routine.

HOW TO HELP PREVENT MATTING

• Brush regularly
• Pay particular attention to the nape
• Never leave your hair wet or damp
• Protect your hair while sleeping
• Use the correct, extension-safe products
• Attend your recommended maintenance appointments

Good extension work isn’t simply about how the hair looks on the day it’s fitted. The condition of the natural hair, the longevity of the extensions and the overall wearing experience all depend on how they’re maintained afterwards.

At Elite Retreat, we believe in looking after the hair underneath the extensions just as much as the extensions themselves. If, during your consultation, we don’t feel extensions would be the best option for your hair at that time, we can always create a suitable plan to work towards them in the future.

I also have Beauty Works aftercare bundles available in the salon, so if you’re looking to improve your extension aftercare, I can help you choose the most suitable products for your hair and extension method even if your extensions were fitted elsewhere or you haven’t previously been recommended the right products.
