Patrick travelled up from London to spend 6 days with me on my Intensive Wig Making Course, swipe across and you'll spot him at the knotting bench during his week with me!

Fast forward, and these gorgeous photos are of a wig Patrick has since made completely from scratch for Cats at Regent's Park.
I absolutely LOVE seeing the journey from someone sitting at my studio bench learning and developing their skills, to seeing what they then go away and create with them.

And that final picture… 🥹

The six days in my studio are only the beginning. It's what my students take away, practise, develop and eventually make their own that makes teaching so rewarding.

A little before & after ✨

This private client’s wig just needed a little extra fullness, so I’ve given it a good thickening up and brought more life into it.

Sometimes it’s the simplest little changes that make such a difference 🤍

🚨 WIG EMERGENCY 🚨

A last-minute call meant packing up my kit and heading up to Blackpool to work on this wig for a lovely show.

For a few hours, I felt less like a wig maker and more like a wig emergency car/ambulance service 😂🚑💇‍♀️

A little unexpected road trip, a lot of wig work, and a lot of old friends caught up with🤍✨

Back to the knotting bench for visit number 2 of 3! ✨

And yes… those clip-on magnifying glasses are getting some serious use! Helen bought the clip on magnifying glasses herself and they make such a difference for her getting nice tight knots.

Helen was back for her second session, continuing to build on everything she learnt during her first visit and starting to make a mherkin! I love seeing the difference that a little more practice, guidance and time at the bench can make and there’s still one more session to go!

You can see the direction change here, with a small section of cross knotting worked into the temple area. It’s these little details that help the hair sit and flow naturally, while still giving the density and direction needed around the hairline.

And when it’s done well, that change in direction should blend in beautifully, you shouldn’t really notice where one technique finishes and the other begins. ✨

Knotting is all about those tiny details, and getting your hands confident with them takes practice!

Sometimes a wig doesn't need replacing-it just needs a little thickening up!

This is such a simple but effective way to give a well-loved wig years more life. Adding density where it's needed can completely refresh the overall look and bring a tired-looking piece back to its former glory.

I love jobs like this (at the end...all my fellow wig makers will know thickening up is a pain in the arse!) because it's amazing what a little bit of extra hair and some careful work can do! 💗

So before you retire that old favourite… it might just need a little TLC ☺️
