THE BOROUGH OF WARRINGTON (RUSHGREEN ROAD, LYMM) (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)
TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Rushgreen Road from its junction with Fletchers Lane to its junction with Cloverfield.
The Order will be effective from 23rd October 2026 to 26th October 2026, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via A6144 including Mill Lane, Bent Lane, Paddock Lane, Warburton Lane, Manchester New Road, Manchester Road, Harboro Road, and the A56 including Manchester Road, Church Street, Dunham Road. Higher Lane, Church Road and vice versa. The closure is required to allow for Scottish Power, United Utilities and British Telecom to install new customer connections.

I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that, on the occasion of the above-mentioned events, no cart, carriage, motor car, lorry or other vehicle (excepting vehicles taking part in the event, Police, Ambulance and Fire Service vehicles and Mail Carts) and no horses or other animal be allowed to remain in or travel along or over any of the undermentioned streets:

Between the hours of 4:00pm and 9.30pm on Thursday 18th June 2026:

Eagle Brow Brookfield Road to The Cross

The Cross Eagle Brow to Rectory Lane

Whitbarrow Road Brookfield Road to Bridgewater Street

Bridgewater Street Whitbarrow Road to Eagle Brow

N.B. An alternative route will be available for through traffic via Rectory Lane, Church Road, Brookfield Road and vice versa.

Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term "vehicle" and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified. Any person willfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.

Vehicular access to premises will only be permitted under the guidance of the organisers.

Pedestrian and emergency routes will be maintained.

What a brilliant story this is — local barber Craig Griffin is swapping the shop floor for the dance floor as he takes on a big challenge in aid of St. Rocco's Hospice

It’s the kind of community story we love: full of heart, a bit of sparkle, and all for a great cause. Craig’s clearly not afraid to step outside his comfort zone, and I’ve got no doubt he’ll bring plenty of energy to the event.

Wishing him the very best of luck — and plenty of support for St Rocco’s along the way. He chatted to our very own Jim on the radio.

Fundraising started! Craig Griffin has launched a fundraising campaign, show your support with a donation!

🚧 Essential repairs on the M6 between junctions 20a and 21 🚧

We’ll shortly be carrying out important maintenance on the M6 between J20a (Lymm Interchange) and J21 (Weaste Lane), near Warrington.

Between 7 April and 19 June, our work will include:
🛣️ Resurfacing the carriageway
🧭 Replacing road markings
📡 Upgrading traffic sensors
🌿 Clearing roadside vegetation

We’ll be working overnight, 8pm–6am, Monday to Friday, with some weekend nights if required to complete the work.

Closures
For everyone’s safety:
🔸 Some M6 lanes will be closed in phases
🔸 Slip roads at J20 will be closed at times
🔸 Link roads between the M6 and M56 at J20a will also be closed on certain nights
➡️ Please follow the clearly signed diversion routes.
🕒 Plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

We’re carrying out this work overnight to keep disruption to a minimum, but some noise is unavoidable. We apologise in advance for any disturbance and thank you for your patience.

Please be aware that severe weather or unforeseen circumstances may lead to last minute changes to the schedule.

Please can I remind our clients how important it is to turn up on time during December.

We are extremely busy because we are squeezing in 4 weeks worth of hair cuts into 2 weeks, we are doing longer days and more shifts to get everyone in before……

But if you are not on time please don’t be disappointed if we can’t start your hair cut, we don’t have the margin for error to run behind during Christmas.
