Laser Tattoo Removal
Ever wondered what’s actually happening under your skin during laser tattoo removal?
The laser isn’t burning the tattoo away or melting the ink. Instead, it delivers incredibly fast pulses of energy that break the tattoo pigment down into much smaller particles.
Then your body takes over.
Your immune system gets to work clearing those tiny ink particles away gradually - which is why you continue to see fading after your appointment, not just on the day of treatment.
And it’s exactly why we don’t rush sessions.
Giving your body enough time between treatments matters. Looking after yourself matters too - staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, moving your body and generally supporting your health all give your system the best chance to do its job.
The laser breaks it down. Your body clears it away.
Pretty clever, really. 👏

Now THAT is progress. 👀
This rose hasn’t disappeared overnight. It’s taken a course of treatments, plenty of patience and, importantly, enough time between sessions for the body to do its work.
And we’re almost there.
When you start tattoo removal, it can be hard to imagine your skin without the tattoo that’s been sitting there for years. Results like this show just how much can change.
Some areas of ink can be more stubborn than others, and every tattoo has its own removal journey. That’s why we treat what’s in front of us rather than promising a set number of sessions.
If you’ve got a tattoo you’re ready to say goodbye to, whether you want full removal or enough fading for a cover-up, come and have a chat with us.

Your tattoo doesn’t disappear the moment the laser hits it. In fact, that’s only the beginning.
The laser breaks the ink into much smaller particles. Then your body gets involved, gradually processing and clearing those particles in the weeks that follow.
Which is one of the reasons we don’t rush you back in for another session.
Your skin needs time to recover, but your body also needs time to do its bit. More laser, more often, doesn’t automatically mean faster results.
It’s also why everyone’s removal journey looks slightly different. Your tattoo, the ink, where it sits on your body and how you respond to treatment all play a part.
So if you’ve been wondering why tattoo removal takes several sessions, or why we sometimes tell you to wait a little longer between appointments, there’s a lot more happening beneath the skin than you can see.

September is actually a great time to start thinking about tattoo removal.
As we head into autumn, there’s less chance of the area being exposed to strong sunshine, which makes the cooler months a much easier time to begin your removal journey.
And if the tattoo you want gone is fairly new, there’s no need to rush it. We need the skin to have had at least 8 weeks to fully heal before we can patch test and start planning treatment.
So if you’ve spent all summer looking at that tattoo thinking, “Yep. I’m done with you…” now might be the time to do something about it.
Whether you want complete removal or you’re looking to fade it ready for a cover-up, come and have a chat.

This is why we take progress photos. 👀
When you see your tattoo every day, it can be really difficult to notice how much it’s actually changing.
Then you put the photos side by side…
And suddenly you can see just how much ink has already gone.
This one isn’t finished. It’s only a few sessions in. There’s still ink for the body to work on and more fading to come.
Every tattoo responds differently, so we’ll never promise you a certain number of sessions or an overnight result. But seeing progress like this is a pretty good reminder that patience between appointments is doing something.

You can love tattoos and still have one you’re completely over.
👉Maybe your taste has changed.
👉Maybe the work you have now is a world away from what you chose ten years ago.
👉Maybe you’ve got plans for a new piece and the old one is sitting right where you want it.
And sometimes? You just don’t want that particular tattoo on your body anymore.
That doesn’t mean getting it was a mistake.
Tattoo removal can simply be part of being a tattoo person. You curate what stays, what goes, what gets covered and what makes way for something new.
Whether you want it gone completely or faded enough to give your tattoo artist more freedom with a cover-up, we can talk you through what’s realistic for your tattoo.

Sometimes the goal is simply to fade the old tattoo enough to give your tattoo artist more freedom with the new one.
A dark or heavily saturated tattoo can limit what an artist can successfully put over it. By breaking down some of that existing ink first, we can create a lighter canvas for your artist to work with.
And that can mean more choice over:
✨ The new design
✨ The colours
✨ The placement
✨ How much of the old tattoo needs disguising
You may only need a few laser sessions rather than going through the full removal process.
So if you still love tattoos but you've outgrown that tattoo, don't assume your only choices are living with it or removing it completely.
There could be a third option.
Fade it. Then create something you actually want.
Already have a cover-up in mind? Speak to your tattoo artist about how much fading they'd ideally like, then come and have a chat with us.

"But how much is it actually going to cost me?"
It's one of the first questions people have about tattoo removal. And completely understandably.
That's why you'll find our treatment prices right there on the Rethink Me website.
Your price will largely depend on the size of the area being treated, so you can measure your tattoo and get a rough idea of what you'd be looking at before you've even spoken to us.
As a guide, our current prices are availalbe online
For particularly large or more complex areas, we'll price your treatment individually.
Of course, the total cost of removing a tattoo is harder to predict because we won't know exactly how many sessions you'll need until we've assessed it and seen how your body responds.
But at least you can get a realistic idea of the cost of each session before you start.
No mystery pricing. No awkward "how much?" conversation.
Have a look at our prices online, then if you're ready to find out what's possible with your tattoo, book your free consultation. I'll drop the link below.

Why does eyebrow pigment behave differently? 👀
Ever noticed old semi-permanent brows turning grey, red, orange or even slightly blue over time?
There's a reason for that.
PMU pigments are different from traditional tattoo inks. They're generally placed more superficially in the skin and can contain a blend of different pigments designed to create a natural brow shade.
As the pigment fades, those different components don't always fade at the same rate.
That's why brows that started as a lovely warm brown can gradually change colour as the years pass.
And it matters when we're removing them too.
Laser treatment needs to take into account the pigment that's actually sitting in the skin now, not simply the colour your brows were when you first had them done.
In some cases, certain cosmetic pigments can even darken after laser treatment because of ingredients within the pigment. That's why assessment and, where appropriate, a test patch are so important before starting treatment.
Sometimes the aim is full removal.
Sometimes we simply need to clear enough of that old, faded pigment to give your PMU artist a cleaner canvas for a fresh set of brows.
Got old PMU that's changed colour or no longer suits you?
Come and let us have a look.

Sometimes, the best thing I can do for your tattoo removal results is tell you to wait.
Even if your skin looks completely healed and you're ready for your next session, I may suggest giving it another few weeks.
Why?
Because the laser has already done its job. It’s broken the ink down into smaller particles.
Now your body needs time to do its bit.
Your immune system continues clearing those ink particles in the weeks after treatment, which means your tattoo can carry on fading even when we haven't touched it with a laser.
Going again too soon doesn't necessarily mean faster removal.
Sometimes giving your body another four weeks to work can be far more beneficial than squeezing in another session.
And that's why your treatment schedule shouldn't simply be based on a calendar.
I'll look at how your tattoo is fading, how your skin has recovered and how you've responded to previous sessions before deciding when we go again.
Tattoo removal is a process.
More laser doesn't always mean better results. Sometimes, more time does
