Hair thinning almost never has one cause. It has two or three, running at the same time and treating any of them without understanding the others rarely delivers real results.

This is the honest breakdown of the five most common causes of hair thinning we see in clinic. Save this if you've been guessing at your own answer for too long.

Your post-summer skin is showing you three things right now.

Your post-summer skin is showing you three things right now and most people are ignoring all three.

1️⃣ The first is inflammation. Even if you’re not visibly sunburned, weeks of UV, heat and dehydration leave a low-grade inflammatory response in the skin. This is what dermatologists in 2026 are now calling delayed inflammatory pigmentation. Jump into aggressive treatment before inflammation is settled - you’ll make things worse.

2️⃣ The second is barrier compromise. Sweat, SPF build-up, air conditioning and sun combine to weaken your skin barrier. That’s why you’re seeing sensitivity, tightness, and breakouts in unusual places and why your usual products aren’t working the way they did in April.

3️⃣ The third is emerging pigmentation. New spots. Deeper melasma. Old post-inflammatory marks getting darker. These appear a few weeks after the exposure that caused them - right about now.

❗️The order matters. 👉🏻Calm the inflammation. 👉🏻Repair the barrier. 👉🏻THEN treat pigmentation.

Skipping steps is why so many people spend autumn chasing results they never quite achieve.

Pigmentation that won’t fade is one of the most frustrating things in skincare.

You’re doing “all the right things” - at least, all the things Instagram says are right. And nothing is changing.

Here’s the truth: most pigmentation problems aren’t a product problem. They’re a diagnosis problem.

Post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH), sun damage, and melasma all LOOK similar. They are NOT the same condition. They respond to completely different treatments. Using the wrong protocol on the wrong type can make it worse.

That’s why a professional skin assessment is the first step we recommend - not the seventh product purchase.

Why is my skin oilier in the summer?

Your skin isn’t suddenly oily. Three things are happening at once. This is the conversation I have in clinic every July.

1️⃣ - heat stimulates your sebaceous glands to overproduce oil. That’s biological. Your skin is responding to the temperature.

2️⃣ - you’re confusing oil with sweat. They come from completely different glands. Both increase in summer. Both leave you feeling greasy. Stripping your face with stronger cleansers doesn’t fix either.

3️⃣ - your skin is probably DEHYDRATED. Even oily skin can be dehydrated. When skin lacks water, it overproduces oil to compensate. The cycle accelerates with every stronger product you reach for.
The fix isn’t stripping. It’s rebalancing.
A gentle cleanser. A hydrating serum. A lightweight moisturiser. A non-comedogenic SPF. And when needed a professional hydration treatment to reset the barrier.

If you’ve been fighting your skin all summer, this is your sign to STOP fighting and start listening.

Missed your last laser session and panicking? Read this carefully.

The follicles that have already been successfully treated STAY treated. Skipping a session doesn’t reverse them. You will not need to start your treatment course from scratch.

What it DOES affect: efficiency. Hair grows in cycles, and every session targets the follicles currently in the active growth phase. When you miss a session, those follicles continue cycling and you’ll need more total sessions to reach the same end result.

A week or two? No real impact. A month? Slightly less efficient. Six months? Still salvageable, just slower.

The biggest mistake: stopping completely because you “missed your slot” and feeling like you have to start over - you don’t.

Why is pigmentation so stubborn?

If your acne pigmentation hasn’t faded in months, here’s the real reason.

It’s not because you haven’t tried hard enough. It’s not because your skin is broken.

It’s almost always one of these:
1️⃣ - you have active acne underneath. New breakouts create new pigmentation faster than old pigmentation can fade. Trying to fade marks while still breaking out is like emptying a bath with the tap on.

2️⃣ - you’re not protecting against UV. Pigmentation is melanin. UV stimulates melanin. Daily SPF isn’t a “nice to have” - it’s the difference between healing and worsening.

3️⃣ - you’re overdoing actives. Every new acid, every new retinol, every “miracle ingredient.” Overload creates irritation, which creates inflammation, which creates MORE pigmentation. Less is genuinely more.

4️⃣ - the pigmentation is deeper than your skincare can reach. Some pigmentation lives in lower layers of the skin and needs professional treatments - medical microneedling, peels, certain laser protocols - to address.

Pigmentation is one of the most treatable conditions in aesthetic medicine. But it needs the right approach, not more products.

What you actually CAN have done this summer.

The misconception that summer means hitting pause on your skin journey costs you 3-4 months of progress. And in skincare, momentum matters.

Safe in summer☀️
→ Hydration treatments
→ Medical microneedling (with disciplined SPF)
→ Exosome therapy → LED therapy
→ Laser hair removal (with proper prep)
→ Professional facials

Pause until 🍂 autumn
→ Deep chemical peels
→ Aggressive pigmentation lasers
→ Ablative resurfacing

The pattern is simple - anything that disrupts the surface or aggressively targets pigment is best left for darker months. Everything else is on the table.

DM us if you want a consultation to map out what’s right for you this season.

Exosomes are the buzzword in skincare right now - and I’ve got concerns. Not about the treatment. About the way it’s being sold.

Exosomes are biological messengers. They help cells communicate, signal regeneration, and support tissue repair. Used properly, in clinical settings, they’re one of the most exciting developments in regenerative skincare we’ve seen in a decade.

But here’s what’s NOT being said:
1️⃣ - quality matters enormously. Not all exosomes are the same. Source, processing, storage all affect whether they work or whether you’ve spent £500 on water.

2️⃣ - exosomes alone aren’t the answer. The most effective protocol pairs them with microneedling so they’re actually delivered into the layers of skin where they can act.

3️⃣ - they’re not a one-and-done treatment. The patients getting transformative results are doing a course, not a single session.

If you’re considering exosomes, ask:
❓where do these come from?
❓How are they delivered?
❓What’s the treatment plan?

If the clinic can’t answer all three confidently, walk away.

DM us if you want an honest conversation about whether exosomes are right for what you’re trying to achieve.

Why your acne scars look worse than 5 years ago?

If your acne scars look worse now than they did five years ago, you’re not imagining it.
The scar tissue hasn’t changed. Your skin around it has.

From your mid-twenties onwards, your skin loses around 1% of its collagen production per year. That means less padding around the scar. Less padding = the scar becomes more visible.

Think of it like a dent in a thick mattress versus a thin one. Same dent. Very different visibility.

The good news: this is now one of the most treatable concerns in aesthetic medicine.

Medical microneedling, exosome therapy, and laser resurfacing all work by rebuilding the collagen that’s been lost — and reducing the visibility of scars that have been bothering you for years.

You don’t have to keep covering them.
Comment HEAL for our Skin Restoration guide - explains which treatment works for which scar type.
