Pure Indian Amla should have no smell. If you’re using one which has a strong smell, it’s probably got synthetic fragrance added to it.

Our Amla oil in our Rich Roots Hair Oil is cold-pressed so almost colourless and fragrance free.

Not all amla oil is created equal 🌿✨

Before you buy your next bottle, here’s what actually matters:
✨ Cold-pressed, not heat-extracted: heat kills the good stuff (vitamin C, antioxidants) that makes amla worth using in the first place
✨ Real amla, not “amla fragrance”: check the ingredient list. If amla isn’t in the first few ingredients, it’s mostly filler oil with a scent
✨ No mineral oil as the base: a lot of “amla oil” on the shelf is just mineral oil + amla extract. Look for a real carrier oil (sesame, coconut, or cold-pressed amla itself)
✨ Colour + smell test: genuine amla oil is deep green/brown and smells earthy, slightly tart, not overly perfumed
