Some snaps from our recent CPD session with Jarrod Antlick, PhD candidate specialising in Achilles tendons. The session explored the latest research around conservatively and surgically managed Achilles tendon injuries, looking at how current evidence can inform assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. We then put the theory into practice with a hands-on masterclass covering clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound evaluation with one of our patients. A brilliant opportunity for the Complete Physio team to share knowledge, refine our clinical skills and make sure the care we provide continues to reflect the latest evidence. 🙌 A big thank you to Jarrod for sharing his expertise — and to our patient for taking part and kindly consenting to the footage being shared.

Our latest in-house CPD session, led by Chris Myers, brought together our qualified sonographers for an advanced workshop on shoulder ultrasound scanning, with a particular focus on recognising the common pitfalls when assessing the rotator cuff. Continuous learning, collaborative discussion and sharing expertise help us deliver the highest standard of patient care. đź’™

Great evening of CPD at Complete Physio with Sport & Dance Endocrinologist Dr Nicky Keay, diving into all things bone stress injuries and REDs. At Complete, we see hundreds of stress fractures every year, including repeat and multiple fractures, so understanding the bigger picture is essential. By working alongside experts like Nicky, we’re able to get to the root cause, not just treat the injury, ensuring our patients receive the same high-level care approach seen in elite sport.

A brilliant CPD evening with Dr Nicky Keay at Complete Physio, covering bone stress injuries, REDs, performance health and the importance of multidisciplinary care.
Stress fractures are rarely "just bad luck". We regularly see patients with recurrent or multiple stress fractures, and sessions like this help us continue to refine how we assess, investigate and manage the underlying causes.
Our aim is always to provide every patient, from recreational exercisers to elite athletes, with the highest standard of evidence-based care.

Performance starts with precision.
At our Bury St clinic, we use force plates, dynamometry, and advanced running analysis to assess strength, movement, and biomechanics in detail.
Whether you’re returning from injury or chasing a new PB, testing helps us build a smarter plan for your goals.

Fantastic to host Dr Nicky Keay for a Complete Physio CPD evening focused on bone stress injuries and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs)
We see a huge number of stress fractures in clinic, many of them recurrent or linked to underlying health, nutrition or training factors
Collaborating with leading experts like Nicky helps us take a truly holistic approach and ensure our patients benefit from the same level of insight and care used within elite sport environments
What happens when an MCL injury doesn’t heal quite as expected?
In this video, Chris Myers from Complete Physio uses diagnostic ultrasound to assess the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) alongside a Pellegrini-Stieda lesion - a post-traumatic calcification that can develop after an avulsion injury at the ligament’s attachment on the medial femoral condyle.
Often referred to as a Pellegrini-Stieda fracture or Stieda fracture, this type of injury occurs when a small piece of bone is pulled away at the MCL origin.
If healing is incomplete, calcification or ossification can remain within the ligament tissue.
Ultrasound imaging allows us to assess ligament structure, healing response and associated calcification dynamically in clinic, helping to guide accurate diagnosis, rehabilitation and return-to-sport planning.
Ever wondered what a Baker’s cyst looks like on transverse diagnostic ultrasound?
In this video, Chris Myers from Complete Physio talks through a real-time ultrasound image of a Baker’s cyst, explaining how these fluid-filled swellings develop at the back of the knee and what clinicians look for during assessment.
Diagnostic ultrasound is a fantastic tool for visualising soft tissue structures dynamically, helping us differentiate between causes of posterior knee pain and swelling, and guide appropriate treatment and rehabilitation.
What does a fibula look like on ultrasound after ORIF removal?
In this video, Chris Myers from Complete Physio talks through an ultrasound scan of a patient who sustained a significant fibular fracture requiring ORIF surgery with a plate and 9 screws.
Following removal of the metalwork, ultrasound gives a fascinating insight into the healing bone and surrounding soft tissue changes.
Chris explains what can be visualised on diagnostic ultrasound, including the cortical irregularity left behind from the previous fixation, post-surgical changes and how imaging can help assess healing and ongoing symptoms following major ankle injury and surgery.
Diagnostic ultrasound is an excellent tool for dynamic assessment of musculoskeletal injuries, particularly when monitoring recovery after trauma or orthopaedic procedures.
