Eat Fibre, Feel Better

Fibre is powerful. Every new study points to the same conclusion: we should be eating more of it.

The study by Ramezani et al., is one of the most rigorous recent studies - and what astounded me was the sheer impact they found. A 23% difference in mortality between the highest and lowest fibre consumers is huge. Especially because eating enough fibre is such a quick win.

Eat porridge. Throw nuts and seeds on your neals. Add a fibre powder to your drinks. Whichever way you achieve a high fibre diet, it's worth it.

When I started building The Gut Tailor, I was determined to build a company completely led by scientific evidence. As a Biologist, delving into scientific articles comes naturally to me - and it's allowed me to unpick the hype and only build products that have scientific weight behind them.

The most surprising thing about becoming a founder of a gut health brand: everyday gut health isn't that complex.

Learn what type of fibre works for you, eat more of it, build in a greater diversity of plants and remain consistent. That's easier said than done - hence why 96 out of 100 people don't achieve the NHS-recommended 30 grams of fibre per day.

Probiotics like a kefir are a nice-to-have, but not essential as the marketing would have you believe.

My learning is far from over - I'm looking forward to continuing my learning journey and feeding everything back into my product design.

Most "high fibre" foods just cause discomfort - and regret. The key is to choose gentle fibre types that break down more slowly, so you get the gut health benefits without the discomfort. Our porridge range is designed around these prebiotic, gentle fibres, which feed good gut bugs.

The gut impacts energy, immunity, and of course, digestion. Feeding your microbiome is one of the most powerful ways to level up your gut health.

Our porridge helps you eat the right types of fibre on autopilot.

How to get more good bacteria in your gut... 🦠

Prebiotic fibre can help to increase the number of good bacteria in your gut.

When you consistently feed your gut bacteria with prebiotic fibre:
🦠 Your gut bacteria have more fuel
🦠Your blood sugar becomes more stable
🦠Meals keep you fuller longer

Some prebiotic fibres feed good bacteria - but also cause bloating. The trick? Choose slowly fermenting fibres - which provide the same benefit without the bloating and gas.

There's no need to dread fibre. You just need to choose the right type.

You can hit your protein target and still feel:
– on‑off bloating
– 3pm energy crashes
– a gut you can’t quite rely on from one week to the next.

In this carousel, I teamed up with Caroline Peyton to show why your gut microbes don’t actually want more protein from you – they’re waiting for fibre – and how a fibre “base layer” under your usual meals can change how your whole system feels.

Do you currently prioritise protein or fibre?

Fibre supplements aren't just for people with constipation. Most people think fibre is "mechanical" - they think it's roughage that pushes things through. There's an underappreciated power of fibre supplements - their prebiotic potential.

The power of prebiotic fibre is in feeding the good bacteria within the microbiome. It's like adding fertiliser to a field. Prebiotic fibre is what the good guys eat - and so by eating more prebiotic fibre, you get more good guys.

So consider integrating prebiotics into your routine. This is the basis behind all our products at The Gut Tailor.
