SAFETY FIRST!

One of the most important complications every injector must be able to recognise is a vascular occlusion. Although rare, it requires immediate assessment and action.

When we’re concerned about blood flow to an area, one of the checks we perform is a capillary refill test. We apply gentle pressure to the skin to temporarily blanch the area, then release and observe how quickly colour returns. A normal capillary refill is usually rapid. Delayed refill may indicate reduced blood supply and warrants further investigation.

However, a capillary refill check is only one part of the assessment. We also look for signs such as blanching, disproportionate pain, changes in skin colour, coolness of the skin, and any mottled or livedo-like appearance.

When Filler Goes Too Far… Here’s the Fix…

From overfilled to refined, balanced, and healthy again. This “before” is something we’re seeing more and more: lips that have been repeatedly filled without proper assessment, leading to filler migration, loss of natural structure, and that dreaded “sausage” appearance.

When filler spreads beyond the lip border, it blurs definition, distorts shape, and can even weigh the lips down over time. Instead of adding more (which would only make things worse), we took a step back…

First, we dissolved the old filler to reset the canvas. This is such an important part of corrective work. By removing migrated product, it allows us to restore natural anatomy and rebuild safely and strategically.

Once the tissue had settled, we introduced Plinest, the newest formulation combining highly purified polynucleotides with hyaluronic acid. Unlike traditional fillers that simply add volume, this advanced treatment works by improving skin quality at a cellular level while also delivering deep hydration.
