What happens when you don’t quite realise who’s sitting in your chair?

When Michael Douglas first started doing Kate Bush’s hair, he didn’t fully appreciate the significance.

Then Davina McCall, a huge Kate Bush fan, introduced him to her music properly, and everything changed.

In the season finale of Heads Together, Michael shares the story behind working with one of Britain’s most iconic artists, alongside many more brilliant stories from a career spent behind the scenes with some extraordinary people.

Two questions that could change the direction you’re heading…

Every few months, Michael Douglas asks himself:

What am I doing that I should stop doing?
What am I not doing that I should start doing?

In the season finale of Heads Together, Michael shares how taking time to reflect — and being prepared to act on the answers — has helped shape the person, career and life he has today.

A simple idea, but a powerful one.

Is it time for the perm to make a comeback? 👀

Michael Douglas certainly thinks so.

In the latest episode of Heads Together, Michael looks back at one of hairdressing’s most iconic trends…including the days when Liverpool footballers were sitting in salons with perm rollers in and reveals he’d happily get one himself.

So, hairdressers… who’s volunteering to perm Michael Douglas? 😂

Back in my happy place for something a little different!

The wonderful showed me how to bring out the natural movement in my hair.

After I’d had the iconic Diamond Dry Cut and a gorgeous colour refresh from the amazing , Mitchell showed me, how with the help of some great products and some gentle drying, my hairs natural form was able to come through.

Absolutely love it!! Thank you, as always, to the incredible team at
I couldn’t be happier!♥️💫

98% of you asked for the details, so here’s what the fabulous team at Michael Van Clarke | Hair Salon Marylebone London | Dry Haircut did

I’m now over 80% grey, with around 8 weeks of regrowth. I don’t want to cover my grey completely, we’re working with it and blending it into my existing colour.

Here’s exactly what Berni does:
Hairline: Baby highlights where I have the most grey, using a mild lightener to soften and blend the regrowth.
Roots: Wella Illumina 7/ + 6/16 with a low developer, creating dimension rather than one solid block of colour. Approx. 25 minutes.
Toner: Once washed out, a semi-permanent toner at approximately level 9 with a cool undertone brings everything together. Approx. 7–12 minutes.

Cut: Mitchell then dry-cuts my hair, removing weight and creating the shape and movement around my face that I was missing.

From start to finished blow-dry: around three hours.

One VERY important caveat: I’m sharing my formula because you asked, not as a recipe for your own hair. Grey percentage, natural pigment, previous colour, condition and porosity all affect the result. The same formula can behave very differently on someone else’s hair, so your colourist should formulate specifically for you.

And this is something I talk about a lot with my style with anita members: hair colour is colour analysis too. Too light, dark, warm or cool can fight with your natural colouring just as clothes can.
I personally review every member’s colour submission, including their hair colour.

❤️ Style With Anita Early Bird opens 28 August. Comment SWA and I’ll send you the details.

What happens when you stop wishing you were somebody else?

On Heads Together Michael Douglas opens up about confidence, identity and the moment he began to embrace who he really was rather than trying to fit someone else’s idea of success.

“Surrendering into who I was… set me free.”

A refreshingly honest conversation with Michael about self-acceptance, personal growth and becoming comfortable in your own skin.
