Reiki was originally taught as a practice for self-care and personal wellbeing.
Before Reiki became something people commonly experience through treatments from others, its founder, Mikao Usui, taught his students how to practise Reiki on themselves as part of their everyday wellbeing.
That tradition continues today.
Reiki Level 1: Shoden is an opportunity to learn the foundations of Reiki and, most importantly, to experience it for yourself. You’ll learn how to practise Reiki as a simple, mindful self-care practice and explore how it can become part of your own routine.

We had a really inspiring time on our recent Cancer Massage Therapy (Oncology Massage) course at London School of Massage | Courses.
This specialist training gives qualified massage therapists the knowledge, skills and confidence to work safely and effectively with people living with cancer, including those receiving treatment, recovering from cancer, or receiving palliative care.
Cancer and its treatments can have a profound effect on the body, so adapting massage appropriately is essential. The course explores how to assess each client, understand the considerations associated with different cancers and treatments, and adapt massage techniques, positioning and pressure to provide safe, supportive and compassionate care.
It’s a rewarding area of massage therapy and one that can make a meaningful difference to a client’s experience of touch and wellbeing.

As many of you know, we have a resident fox and fox cubs who live in the Senergize Enchanted Garden. We always left our footwear outside the Garden House until one of my flip flops disappeared the other day - I’m not casting any aspersions on who took it – but I found it later on left down by the side wall along with a garden glove and several takeaway boxes

What a great day we had on our Reiki Level 1 course last Saturday. It was a lovely group, with lots of curiosity, openness and enthusiasm as we explored Reiki together.
We covered the history and principles of Reiki, experienced the energy for ourselves, practised self-Reiki and learned how to give and receive a Reiki treatment.
There were some great questions and discussions throughout the day, and it was really interesting to hear everyone’s different experiences of working with Reiki for the first time.
Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such an enjoyable day. It was a real pleasure to share Reiki with you.

What Does Reiki Feel Like?
This is probably the question I’m asked most often.
Everyone experiences Reiki differently.
Some people describe warmth.
Others notice tingling.
Some feel deeply peaceful.
Some people don’t notice very much at all.
There’s no right or wrong experience.

If you took a friend to watch the sun rise over the mountains, you wouldn’t spend the whole time explaining what they were seeing.

Reiki is much the same.
As practitioners, our role isn’t to force, direct or analyse. We simply create a calm, supportive space and allow the person to experience whatever they need in that moment - it’s a quiet privilege to be part of that journey.
