Does SMP hurt? 🤔
This is one of the questions I get asked all the time!
Pain tolerance does vary from person to person, but generally SMP is very manageable. This video is a good example of how most of my clients sit throughout their treatment - as you can see, he’s comfortable and relaxed throughout the session.
Most clients describe the feeling as a light scratching sensation on the scalp rather than anything particularly painful.

This client came to me with existing pigment from a previous practitioner and wanted to improve and build on what was already there. After assessing the scalp and existing work, we were able to add a fresh session and bring everything together for a cleaner, more natural-looking result.
