Debunked mosquito repellent myths you need to know this Summer 🦟

❌ MYTH: Ultrasound/Sonic devices work

✅ FACT: Studies, including a 2010 review, show high-frequency sound devices have no effect on preventing mosquito bites.

❌ Myth: Eating Garlic, Bananas (although the skin offers mild relief when rubbed into human skin), or Vitamin B repels mosquitoes.

✅ Fact: There is no scientific evidence that ingesting specific foods or supplements creates a “systemic barrier.” The FDA has officially stated that oral repellents are not effective.

❌ MYTH: More DEET doesn’t mean better bite protection.

✅ Fact: The concentration of DEET only dictates how long the protection lasts, not the strength of the repellent effect. A 100% formulation is not more repellent than a 50% one; it simply lasts longer.

❌ MYTH: Citronella candles are highly effective.
