You can’t trust skincare ingredients!

Just because a product has the latest ingredient or a long-list or must-haves doesn’t make it an effective product or one that will work for you.

There are specific factors like the type of active ingredient, the delivery system and the formulation that can make all the difference.

Hyaluronic acid is one example of an ingredient that has many different types from low to high molecular weight to hydrolysed and alkaline forms all with different properties and benefits to a skincare formula.

Why is this important?
Just because a serum has hyaluronic — doesn’t mean it’s going to be good or effective. It depends on your skin, your desired results and whether that formula is right for you.

Consulting with a professional when choosing your skincare products will help you understand exactly which products are right for your concerns, goals and preferences and will pair you with the right products that have evidenced-based results.

No matter how highly concentrated your retinol or how hydrating your moisturiser — if your lifestyle isn’t healthy, neither will your skin.

*some signs of unhealthy skin:
- dullness
- redness or irritation
- dryness
- dehydration or fine lines
- hyperpigmentation
- damaged capillaries (small blood vessels).

Skincare paired with a healthy lifestyle promotes healthy skin.

Just a reminder of some lifestyle factors that can drastically affect your skin and counteract the potential of your skincare products:

1. Sleep quality
2. Stress
3. Alcohol, sugar & smoking
4. Sun exposure
5. Nutrient deficiency (a lack of protein, fats and vitamins in your diet).

Do you still buy skincare using this outdated approach?

Letting a skin professional know whether your skin tends to be more oily or more dry can be helpful, but it doesn't offer the whole picture, especially when many people diagnose their skin incorrectly.

There's also many other factors relating to your skin that need to be considered.

If you desire to see your skin improve and to use skincare to treat you individual concerns, book in with me today. Let me help you build a routine and plan for your skins' needs.

Exfoliating is important for maintaining healthy skin.

If you want to prevent wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and congested skin, you need to exfoliate.

Our skin does exfoliate naturally in a process called desquamation BUT environmental and lifestyle factors can cause a build up of dead skin cells.

By exfoliating skin cells on the surface, you encourage the production of new skin cells, improving collagen and the absorption of active ingredients, fading hyperpigmentation by breaking up melanin and alleviating congestion by dissolving the bonds (desmosomes) that hold dead skin cells together.

I recommend using a chemical exfoliant (glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, salicylic acid) 2-3 times a week for smooth, hydrated & even, glowing skin!

You want hydrated, healthy, radiant, clear skin.

You need a skincare plan.

Here’s the exact formula I use to build a plan for my clients:

1. skin concerns (acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation)

+

2. active ingredients (retinoid, vitamin c, lactic acid)

+

3. products with those ingredients (cleanser, serum, moisturiser, spf, exfoliator)

+

4. AM/PM routine using these products.

+

5. Pair your skincare routine with healthy lifestyle habits.

Tip: No skincare routine alone will ensure healthy skin.

🤔Need help with this? You’re in the right place.

Send me a DM and let me know that you want a personalised skincare plan.

💌I’ll send you a link for a free 10 min discovery call so you can see if this is right for you.

Why is choosing specific products for your skin important?

Do you have personalised skincare routine? OR do you use a random selection of products on various days of the week?

The most effective way to build a skincare routine is to consider these five things:

1. Effective skincare products treat skin concerns (not just nice to look at).
2. Your lifestyle has a direct impact on your skin — products should be tailored to your habits (sleep, diet, stress, environment).
3. Your skincare should continue to treat your skin concerns or goals as they change and evolve. (skin isn’t stagnant. It’s a living organ).
4. Your personal likes/ dislikes should be taken into account — so that YOU ENJOY using your products.
5. Inconsistent use of random products won't get results — you need consistency for your products to be effective.

You only see skin improvement when you have a specific goal and plan of action. Book in your 1-1 consult and let me build you a customised skincare routine.
